Fettullah Gulen, a controversial Turkish preacher, has been acquitted by a court on Friday, following which he will return from exile in the US. The Appeals Court upheld a previous verdict that stated Gulen was not responsible for forming a terrorist group that planned to introduce sharia law using violence. Videos of Galen supposedly fainting from religious ecstasy were used as evidence in the court case.
An article about the Gulen movement appeared in the newspaper The Economist, and followers claimed that they had more than 500 places of learning in over 90 countries. Their networks includes numerous businesses and even a university.
Despite his numerous followers, there are many people who believe that Gulen is plotting to eliminate the secular state.
