Priest to Serve Four Years for Abusing Prisoners

by Rachael Grant

A sentence of four years has been handed down to a Roman Catholic Priest who admitted to having sex with two inmates at a women’s prison during his stint as chaplain.

Judge Terry Means, Fort Worth, USA, concluded that Vincent Inametti, aged 48, eradicated any trust that he had as both an employee of Federal Medical Centre Carswell, where he worked for seven years, as well as a representative of the Catholic faith.

Inametti pleaded guilty to the sexual abuse of the two women, both of whom were doing prison sentences for drug distribution.

It was reported that the first woman met Inametti through church services that took place at the prison, and the second woman was already working in the religious services department, also at the prison.

The jail sentence that Inametti was facing could have been for as long as a decade, but after much deliberation, the judge gave a punishment of four years.

Means concluded that Inametti would face a much higher authority for his crimes than could be passed in any sentence he himself could give him.
