by David Masters
A Catholic Priest in Omaha, USA, has admitted stealing $83,000 (£42,000) from one of his parishes.
Revd. Rodney Adams turned himself into police after suspicions were raised about the missing money.
Following a guilty plea in court, the district judge in charge of the case released Adams to begin a treatment programme for mental illness.
44 year old Adams will be officially sentenced on 10th September. He could face up to 20 years in jail and a $25,000 fine.
However, Adams’ lawyer James Schaefer said the judge may give Adams a probation and an order of restitution.
Adams has expressed his remorse and has said that he wants to make restitution for the money that he stole.
