Saudi King organises Madrid interfaith conference

by David Masters

Religious leaders from around the world will meet together tomorrow at an interfaith conference in Madrid.

The international conference, sponsored and organised by King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, aims to allow the leaders of the world’s major religions to get to know each other.

Around 200 people will attend the conference, representing Islam, Christianity, Judaism and Buddism.

It is hoped that the leaders will begin working together to seek solutions to world problems, especially those that plague the Middle East.

Spain was chosen as a venue because it has traditionally been a home for Christians, Muslims and Jews.
