Belfast police investigate sectarian attack

by David Masters

Police in Northern Ireland are investigating a violent assault on a 27 year man in Belfast.

At 8.30pm on Monday evening five masked men, one of whom may have had a gun, forced their way into the man’s flat, tied him up, beat him, and ransacked the property.

They then dragged the man out to the garden, where they assaulted him again.

The victim managed to free himself and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The victim’s father, who lives next door but was out at the time of the attack, said he believes the assault was sectarian.

He added that both he and his son are now planing to move out of the area.

Police are appealing to the public for any information on the attack.
