Methodists ponder climate change and ethical investment
by David Masters
Hundreds of Methodists will gather in Wolverhampton next month for a conference to debate climate change, ethical investment, and how to get more young people involved in the church.
The Methodist Conference, the decision making body of British Methodism that meets annually, will open with a welcome to the new Methodist President, Rev David Gamble, and new Vice-President, Dr Richard Vautrey, as they start their year in office.
Over 300 representatives from across the Methodist Church are expected to gather in Wolverhampton Civic Hall between 2 and 9 July, as well as hundreds more visitors.
New Methodist Ministers will be ordained at the conference and at services across the Midlands in a two part ceremony.
Methodists describe the conference as a “festival of celebration, worship, and friendship”.
