Las Vegas church provides homeless shelter
by Sara Levy
A Baptist church is Las Vegas is opening its doors to homeless people from across the city this month.
The First Baptist Church has set itself up as a temporary night hostel to give homeless people a place from bitterly cold December nights.
The church said it will offer shelter until 21 December under an agreement with Las Vegas group Samaritan House.
Samaritan House had hoped to get a permanent night-shelter open this month inside an old bar.
However, renovations are taking longer than expected.
Other churches in Las Vegas are being asked if they will open their doors to the homeless from 21 December.
