Fatwa issued against Home Secretary
by Jan Harris
Scotland Yard is investigating the appearance of posters in South London calling for a ‘fatwa’, an order issued by Islamic scholars, against the Home Secretary.
The poster, in a style reminiscent of the wanted posters of the Wild West, calls for a fatwa against Theresa May “for the abduction, kidnapping and false imprisonment” of Sheikh Abu Hamza, Sheikh Abu Qatadah, Khalid al Fawwaz and others.
A website set up by the group, www.theresamayfatwa.com, claims that Theresa May has been found guilty of crimes against Islam.
The group, which says it is not calling for her death, plans to hold a press conference in London, when the contents of the fatwa will be revealed.
Abu Bakr, a spokesman for the group, said the group wishes to raise questions about why Muslims such as Khalid al Fawwaz are being held in prison when there is no evidence against them.
