Gospel Jesus as lord of a here-and-now kingdom

You and Cino are raising a historical issue which I started discussing in another thread, and which I will respond to there. The question here is strictly about the gospel stories. In the gospel stories, does Jesus say anything at all about the reason for His death being to pay the price for our...

Gospel Jesus as lord of a here-and-now kingdom

Thank you. Are you saying that's a reason for disagreeing with what I'm saying, that in the gospels, recognizing Jesus as lord and being filled with a desire to learn to live the way He says to live, comes far ahead of any teachings, if there actually are any, about Him being sacrificed to save...

Are you saying that's a reason for disagreeing with what I'm saying, that in the gospels, recognizing Jesus as lord and being filled with a desire to learn to live the way he says to live, comes far ahead of any teachings, if there actually are any, about him being sacrificed to save us from the...

Gospel Jesus as lord of a here-and-now kingdom

Do you see any reason to disagree with what I'm saying, that what Jesus is promoting in the gospels is not a gospel of salvation, that it's a gospel of a metaphorical kingdom, a way for people to learn to live the best lives that they can, that people enter when they recognize Him as their lord...

    "Black holes have hair"

His posts are copied and pasted from another website, using the reply button, and sometimes using a few key words from the post to choose what to copy and paste, only to make it look like he is actually responding to what people are saying.

Love for all of nature including all people everywhere

I've been thinking for many months that the prejudices that most urgently need to be addressed are prejudices across liberal/conservative divides in religion and politics. I thought about that while I was writing the opening post in this thread, but now I remember another thought that I had...

A made-up story about how the gospels were first written

(edited) Sorry, maybe I should have posted this in the History and Mythology forum. I don't know how to move it or delete it, to post it in that forum. (end edit) I've been in some discussions in another forum with some people who believe that the gospel stories are pure fiction, and not based...

Did he die for our sins?

I'm not sure what to think about the death of Jesus as a sacrifice for the sins of all people. I'm thinking that might have been invented by Paul, and not a part of the gospel of Jesus at all. Even so, I do think that the way Jesus died plays some kind of unique role in salvation, that applies...

Gospel Jesus as lord of a here-and-now kingdom

I see an explanation there of why you believe what you do about Jesus and salvation. My views and ways of thinking have always evolved in the same way. Is the last part an explanation of why you don't think a person necessarily has to believe that or even be aware of it to receive salvation?

Did he die for our sins?

Wow. More good news for me, that you can believe all that at the same time. I wasn’t sure I would ever find anyone else besides me who could think that way.

Did he die for our sins?

Okay, thanks.:) I added two more questions to my post.

Did he die for our sins?

I have four questions. 1. Is there anything that today’s Jewish and Christian Bibles say, that you think is not true? 2. Is there anything that today’s Muslim Quran says, that you think is not true? 3. Do you think that the understanding of all Christian denominations of some things in their...

Gospel Jesus as lord of a here-and-now kingdom

You mean, why you believe all that about Jesus and salvation, or why you don't think a person necessarily has to believe that or even be aware of it to receive that salvation, or both? If you would want try to put it into words, I would be interested.

Gospel Jesus as lord of a here-and-now kingdom

Thank you. That’s good news to me, that a person can believe all that without thinking that it’s a belief requirement for salvation. (later) I think that Jesus has all the power, authority and everything else that we can know about the God of Abraham, and in that way can be considered as “God...

Love for all of nature including all people everywhere

I think that Hal David and Jackie deShannon nailed it: It's also not just anything that anyone calls "love." It's an attitude and a kind of behavior towards all of nature including all people everywhere, which includes caring deeply what happens to them and wishing the best for them, without...

Gospel Jesus as lord of a here-and-now kingdom

Even though this is about the Jesus in the gospels of the Christian bible, I'm posting it here because it's a non Christian or maybe even an anti-Christian view. What I see Jesus promoting in the Bible gospels is not a gospel of salvation. He himself calls it "gospel of the kingdom," not "gospel...

    Hi from Longfellow

I've lost interest in responding to dattaswami2's posts because they are mostly just being copied and pasted from The Speaking Tree.
