Why do you need Jesus? He saves you from what?

Actually, that was my clumsy way of trying to start a conversation with you about my understanding of the gospel of Jesus. (later) It doesn't have to be about that. I got the idea today that I might like having some kind of discussion with you about something, and this topic looked like a good...

Why do you need Jesus? He saves you from what?

Yes. I've been thinking that making the gospel of Christianity all about salvation is actually part of the smoke and mirrors around the gospel of Jesus, diverting attention from what it's really all about, and repelling people away from even learning anything about it.

deleted I need to learn to look at the date of the OP before I respond to a thread.

    Hi from Longfellow

No matter how much I despise it, I can’t resist watching the  Tony and Badger Show  sometimes. Maybe it’s Aupmanyav’s comic relief that keeps me coming back for more.

It doesn’t require any IT skills. All I had to do was follow the link from the Iran Press Watch article. https://www.hra-news.org/2022/hranews/a-37180/

    WORLD RELIGIONS

As I said, I think that it's good for people and for the world for people to encourage and support each other in whatever paths they're following for their own progress and for human progress in general. When people are thinking monotheistically, it can be helpful for them in their own minds to...

    WORLD RELIGIONS

That looks similar to my way of thinking about some people who are part of the history of religions. I'll say again that I think that when people are thinking monotheistically, it can be helpful for them, in their own minds, to think of other people's religions as different ways of God teaching...

    WORLD RELIGIONS

At this point I don't see how this could possibly have any better results than any of the other monotheistic "all religions are one" evangelizing that I've seen in Internet discussions in the last 20 years, but I could be wrong. "Time will tell." :) (later) I'll try to think of this as part of...

    WORLD RELIGIONS

For other people following this thread, looking past dattaswami2's theology and presentation, what do you think of the idea of different religions being different ways of the same God teaching different people, using different languages and cultural environments, and promoting that idea as a way...

    WORLD RELIGIONS

First I want to say that I like what you're saying about God teaching all people through different religions, using different languages and cultural environments. I think that people learning to see it that way is part of what is needed to stop the cruelty, violence and oppression, and bring out...

    WORLD RELIGIONS

That doesn't answer my question. You wrote: I'm trying to find out how you think that what you're doing will help stop the fighting and bring permanent unity to the religions and Universal Peace to the world. Just by you posting your view of God and religions, or by everyone understanding and...

Dates that the synoptic gospels were first written?

If you're talking about Jesus in the Bible gospels, I'm also more interested in His teachings than in theological debates. But for information, in my understanding, part of His teachings in the gospels is that He has all the power and authority of God, that He is the one that God promised to...

Dates that the synoptic gospels were first written?

Nothing. I was just surprised to see what a foolish reason historians were using as their only reason for dating the synoptics as late as they do, when there are good reasons for dating them earlier.

Dates that the synoptic gospels were first written?

I agree that it might have been the destruction of the temple that Jesus said would happen during the generation of His listeners, but I don’t see what that has to do with when the gospels were first written. (later) Are you thinking that it couldn’t have been the Mark of tradition who...

    WORLD RELIGIONS

If I'm understanding you correctly, you're saying that the only way to have permanent unity and end the fighting is for everyone to understand and agree with your way of thinking about God and religion? Not saying that I don't like your way of thinking. I do like some parts of it.

Dates that the synoptic gospels were first written?

Most of my life I've accepted what I thought was the view of most historians, that the gospel of Mark was first written some time after 70 CE. In the last week or two, I found out that there are reasons for dating Mark earlier than 60 CE, and the only reason that I've been able to find for...
