I haven't noticed any disappearing posts...
I'd like to hear more though...my understanding is that is how Pakistan split off yes? They were the primarily Muslim sections? Which makes me wonder, how do Hindus fair there?

India is a very special place for muslims; it is mentioned in a hadith which reffered to the masses of Muslims in that subcontinent
However it has fallen in the hands of opressors now, but soon it will be back in the hands of Muslims
:
Hadeeth Number One:
Thawban (RA) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said, "Two groups of my Ummah Allah has protected from the Hellfire: a group that will conquer India and a group that will be with 'Eessa son of Maryam (AS)" (Nasai & also mentioned in Ahmed & Tabarani.).
Commentary by Shayhul-Hadeeth Maulana Muhammad Sarfarz Khan Safdar:
This Hadeeth illustrates that a time will come when Ahlul-Islam will get sick and tired of Indian oppression and will do Jihad with India and apparently this has begun. From the creation of Pakistan (within the huge landscape of India) until now, the Hindu oppressors have indeed inflicted significant hardship on the Muslims, countless Muslims have been murdered (Shaheed) and their properties have been destroyed. Moreover, the oppression in Kashmir is not hidden from any sensible individual. Although some Muslim organisations are “voluntarily” engaged in Jihad but over 53+ Muslim states are shamelessly silent (on the issue of Kashmir) and afraid to upset their Masters (America and its confederates) …But a time will come when Muslims (those with honour and dignity) will take on India and be successful.
Hadeeth Number Two:
Translation: Na'im b. Hammad in al-Fitan reports that Abu Hurayrah, radhiAllaahu 'anhu, said that the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam, mentioned India and said, "A group of you will conquer India, Allah will open for them [India] until they come with its kings chained - Allah having forgiven their sins - when they return back [from India], they will find Ibn Maryam in Syria." (Kanzul-Ummal)
Commentary by Shayhul-Hadeeth Maulana Muhammad Sarfarz Khan Safdar:
Rasul-ullah (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam) mentioned India and described that “Your army will engage in Jihad against India and Allah (SWT) will grant it victory. Alhumdolillah Allah (SWT) granted victory to the Mujahideen and Pakistan Army in Kargil (and its surroundings) and Nawaz Shareef (the American stooge) turned it into defeat. A time will come when the Army of Muslims will bring the rulers of India in handcuffs, chained (to the neck) and Allah (SWT) will forgive the sins of the entire Army. When this Army will return victorious they will witness Isa Ibn Maryam (RA) in Syria
Hadeeth Number Three:
Abu Hurayrah (RA) said, "The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) promised us the conquest of India. If I was to come across that I will spend my soul and wealth. If I am killed then I am among the best of martyrs. And if I return then I am Abu Hurayrah (RA) the freed." (Nasai & also mentioned in Ahmed & Hakim.).

Q) Assalamo Alikum mufti sahib ! My question is whether there is any tradition that Holy Prophet (PBUH) felt breeze from India. Allama Iqbal has said something like that in his poetry; "MEERE ARAB TO AYE THANDI HAWA JAHAN SE MERE WATAN WOHI HAI." Any tradition saying this. Sorry for too many questions in last two days. Waiting for the answer.

A) We could not find this Hadith, may be it is somewhere. But, it is surely known that the virtue of India has been mentioned in the traditions of the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم). There is one Hadith saying that Hazrat Adam (علیہ السلام) was sent down to India, he was accompanied with the breeze of paradise, it is the same breeze which blows in the valleys and trees. The referred words are in poetic form which contains indications and figuration. In order to understand it you must refer to the poetry of Allama Iqbal with its commentary.

Famous poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal used this Hadith in his poetry as " Meer - e - Arab ko Aayi thandi hawan jahan se" "Mera watan wahi hai, mera watan wahi hai." (Where the Arabia Leader felt cool breeze coming from, that is my country, that is my country.)
The cool breeze from Hind, which Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) felt was none other than the vast majority and huge numbers of Muslim population in this region, who is going to be converted from Hindus into Muslims in the future. No other region in this world has such a big number of converted Muslim populations. This conversion of Hindus into Muslims is an evidence and proof that, Hindus have the element and psychological instinct of accepting Islam, more than any other religion or nation. But unfortunately, this conversion of Hindus into Muslims has been seized and stopped, because the character of Muslims has not been so impressive from the last few hundred years, as it was before, when Muslims regime conquered and ruled over this region of subcontinent. At that time Hindus converted into Muslims very fast and in big numbers, due to good character and behavior of Muslim rulers.

Narrated Um Qais bint Mihsan: I heard the Prophet saying, "Treat with the Indian incense, for it has healing for seven diseases; it is to be sniffed by one having throat trouble, and to be put into one side of the mouth of one suffering from pleurisy." Once I went to Allah's Apostle with a son of mine who would not eat any food, and the boy passed urine on him whereupon he asked for some water and sprinkled it over the place of urine.
Ibn Abbas (RA) said, Ali (RA) said: "I feel cool breeze from Hind." Mustadrak Al-Haakim Hadith 3954. Hakim said, 'This Hadith is Sahih on the conditions of [Sahih] Muslim.'

the original people... Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and the various other religious groups therein. usually, however, Muslims are simply referring to Hindus in statements like that.

Yes, appalling amount of blood shed over the centuries. There was a BBC documentary commemorating Partition that I recall most tragically for the Sikhs who killed their own families rather than face forced conversion to Islam.

I am a European-born Muslim, so I know very little of the India's history. I know that it has be subject to various imperialist forces, including that from Islam. The hatred and bloodshed of Muslims and non-Muslims in India is not new to me, but I wish that people would have worked together on getting to a common ground.
Forcing someone into Islam is not an islamic way, and has no support from the authentic islamic sources.
