There is a thread elsewhere on this thread discussing how Jesus may have 'evolved' during his life on earth. This brings up the question of immutability, which a core concept in my belief system.

The idea of being immutable is the idea that "God" does not change, does not evolve, does not learn from "His" mistakes, etc. The idea that "God" is different today than "He" was yesterday goes against the idea of immutability. (This also includes the idea that "God" gets angry, that "God" has emotional states, that "His" emotional state can change from one moment to the next.)

If it can be said that Jesus was affected or changed by his time on earth, if he 'learned something,' if he got angry, etc., then, according to my belief system and the idea of immutability, Jesus was not God.

Hindu Gods and Goddesses are generally shown with a pleasant smile on their faces. They do get angry, but that is 'leela' only, only for show, to bring attention to a certain point for peoples' benefit and correction. :)

The immutability of God is part of my belief system also.

There is no contradiction if one adheres to the traditional and orthodox doctrine of Our Lord as the Incarnation, the union of two natures in one person.

The same thing can be said of the anthropomorphic attributes of the God of the Bible.

Yes. God is love. I look at it like the good father. He never gets angry and only gives good advice and support so that a child can grow up being a good person.

All of your words describe the human race, not Jesus. Jesus was born perfect and could not be tempted, he had no emotional state, When He was angry He was righteously angry.
Jesus was the son of God which is perfection. Stop equating Christ with the human race.

Ventura,

You are telling me what to do and what to believe. I withdraw from this discussion with you. Have a great life!

Jesus was human tooo and born in the same separated condition . The resurrection was to unite the separated body soul and spirit, the human body soul and spirit. His prehumen self was not separated but sealed away. He had the same feelings we all do. When he incarnated into the human egg his prehumen self condensed and entered the egg and was sealed. However he obtained a human body and spirit and soul to go along with it.

what are you replying to?

Jesus was born perfect. Jesus was born human. He had an emotional state. He had no emotional state.

So many claim to know THE TRUTH, and are perfectly happy to belittle others who see THE TRUTH differently from them.

The hubris of it all. Does this not amuse anyone else as much as it amuses me?
