Pope Francis has died:

Vatican announces death of Pope Francis aged 88

The Pope died after suffering a stroke and subsequent heart failure, the Vatican confirms.

By all accounts, he seems to have had a very real interest and focus on ordinary people, which made him easily likeable and popular.

Of course, as one of my kids joked, because he died at Easter he'll be back in three days...

Maybe not, but he's left more of a lasting impression than his immediate predecessor, so it'll be interesting indeed to see the character of the one who follows Pope Francis. No doubt viewings of the movie Conclave will go through the roof now!

The way the pendelum swings, I would expect the next pope not to be so interfaith, as liberal as the one we just lost.

May he rest in peace.
