Genesis 3:24
yea, he casteth out the man, and causeth to dwell at the east of the garden of Eden the cherubs and the flame of the sword which is turning itself round to guard the way of the tree of life.

Yes our way to the Tree of Life was barred, but not to the Holy Spirit.

All life depends on the Holy Spirit.

Considering their state of consciousness, were Adam & Eve really responsible for the Fall?

The Serpent is a called a luciferic influence but is not really Lucifer the god. Lucifer did not want physical incarnation for Man and the attendant pain. He is an upward bearer and wishes to draw Man away from his earthly tasks.

Of course we all want to be at-one with God. It is the most blissful of all experiences, and has to be shielded from us at the midnight hour between death and rebirth. Once we have entered Nirvana it takes a superhuman effort to leave. But leave we must, if we are to carry on with the plan that is for humankind alone.

The Devil and Satan of the New Testament are really two adversarial gods-
Lucifer/Devil and Satan/Ahriman (though sometimes mixed up).

Lucifer is Young Evil of the unripe- the tendencies to fly away from the earth, to reach a premature perfection without working through our faults.

Ahriman is of the rotten- denying the spiritual, wishing the Earth to remain without going on with its next incarnation. Christ is the perfection, the ripeness.

Blessings,
