    Hello Readers,
Walter Stein spends a lot of time in his book "The Ninth Century" talking about Hugo of Tours. The reason could be that, as Trevor Ravenscroft tells us in "The Spear of Destiny", Dr. Stein discovered that he was Hugo in a past life. Dr. Stein is able then, to give us the "horse's mouth" account of this Grail bearer. Hugo, BTW did come into contact with the Manichaean stream in that life.

John Matthews explains in the introduction to "The Ninth Century" that it was in 1924 that Walter had these experiences which revealed his past lives.

Another reason that Walter Stein would be our "horse's mouth" exponent of the history of the Grail is that he was none other than the great man himself, Joseph of Aramathea. Joseph found his way to Britain and became a tin trader- so it is said. Stein, in 1933, also went to live in Britain.

Mani was able to bring new understandings to the mysteries of good and evil by referring back to the Persian mysteries. But everything he incorporated (Buddhism, Greek Wisdom as well) was made new, and is not
just a rehash of the old.

These things are explained in Walter Stein's "The Ninth Century". Rudolf Steiner's indication that Parsifal was the reincarnated Mani, is a great help in understanding the direction Manichaeism took in the ninth Century.

Grail Christianity helps us to understand the role of Lucifer as well. We read in the "Ninth Century" of the Luciferic beings at the time of Parsifal and of their redemption.

It has been said by some that the whole of Christianity was borrowed-
    and proofs have been offered.

In truth as the old saying goes,"at foot of ancient tree the new moss grows". There is an occult principle that states that new forces are grafted on to the old. The Catholic Church itself, according to Steiner, was founded on the power of old Rome. Steiner himself in his work with societies, didn't start from scratch, but began his work in the Theosophical Society.

At the heart of Grail Christianity is the legend of how Michael struck a stone from Lucifer's crown. It subsequently fell to earth and became the Lapis Exilis, the Holy Grail. Rudolf Steiner goes into detail about what this means.

The number 5 has an importance in the Manichean religion. There is the topic of the fifth principle- the fifth principle being Manas- the five steps up to the altar and of course the Pentecost (50) spirit being the redeemed Lucifer. Also the five limbs of the primal man. There is also the fifth post Atlantean epoch of which Prometheus is the representative.

Pentecost is also known as Whitsun, being the seventh Sunday after after Easter. It was on this day that converts, all dressed in white, were baptised- hence "White Sunday" or Whitsun. So this day held special significance for those ready to convert- perhaps an inner knowledge of the redeemed Lucifer. Certainly many human beings were fully aware of what was happening in the Ninth Century in this regard.

The word "grail" itself seems to come from the Latin "gradalis" for "gradually", or step by step.

There is a tale that, in a skirmish with Michael, a stone was knocked from Lucifer's crown.

The explanation by Steiner is that the corona or emerald crown of Lucifer is a group of spiritual beings. A good Angel or Christ Angel (the stone)also fell when Lucifer fell in order to redeem us (and the Luciferic spirits.) This stone has also been associated with the Grail.

As the story goes, Klingsor was found in bed with the king of Sicily's wife, Iblis. For this indiscretion Klingsor had "yield his manhood to the king in satisfaction".
    -Stein the Ninth Century

Occultly we can understand a union between man and demon "among all evil unions which have taken place within the Earth's evolution between beings in whose souls there were occult forces, the one known to occultists as the worst of all was between Klingsor and Iblis."

As a result Klingsor was made a "capon" a "castrated cock".

    Assassins

The name "assassin" comes from "hashisheen". Because the Koran forbids alcohol, many Muslims took to hashish. An Egyptian friend of mine told me that the name "hashisheen" was also applied to professors in the universities. Most probably the cannabis plant was formed at a time when Luciferic forces predominated and has since played a crucial part in Luciferic sects.

The training of the Assassins included exercises like fetching water with a bucket with a hole in it. Normally the will depends on an end result to motivate it, but these kind of exercises build will for will's sake. R. Steiner mentions an individual, a simpleton, who was once made wiser by these kind of exercises, but they are now well past their use-by date.

The training of the Assassins also involved lashings of hashish. One particular propaganda tool used went like this: A man was beheaded in front of the drugged trainees and then his bloody head was placed on a dish from where it began to tell of all the wonders of Paradise which awaited them.
This was cleverly done of course, with a stand-in taking the place of the dead man. It is significant that Dr. Steiner calls the picture of the severed head on the dish as symbol of Black magic and an antitheses of the Mass.

This Arabian Black magic was studied by Klingsor:
    -Steiner

"Calot bobot" or "Kalot/Qualot Enbolot" is an Arabic word meaning "Castle of the Oaks". From there, African Mohammedan enemies of the Grail worked. The symbol of the Grail is the Sun host held by the crescent Moon. The Moon forces will be redeemed by the Sun. It is opposed by the crescent with the star (the false Venus?).

So today we have the old battle of the Sons of the Sun with the Sons of the Moon. Walter Stein predicted the confrontation between East and West.

Working with the time cycles of Trithemius of Sponheim he saw a replay of the battle of Salamis of 480 BC, where the Persians were beaten back by the Greeks. He predicted that two old enemies would have to cooperate if the battle were to be won.

Hello Bruce, would you know where Rudolf Steiner referred to the good angel that "fell" along with the Luciferic spirits and was known as the Grail?

    Thanks,
