nostalgia for paradise ---- why?

Why does mankind yearn for a better world?

The Bible gives an explanation that is as clear as it is simple ,
Mankind comes from a better world! An original paradise really did exist.

THE BIBLE describes it as "a garden" blessed with "every tree desirable to one’s sight and good for food."

God entrusted it to the care of the first human couple. (Genesis 2:7-15) It was an ideal setting in which humans could have been truly happy.

Why did those Paradise conditions not last?

the bible informs us it was
Because of the rebellion first of a spirit creature and then of the human couple. (Genesis 2:16, 17; 3:1-6, 17-19)

so humans lost not only Paradise but also perfection, health, and endless life.

this has progressively degenerated to the all-time low we see today.

Ecclesiastes 3:18-20; Romans 5:12; 2 Timothy 3:1-5, 13.

Jesus Christ, the Founder of Christianity, knew that this present world is not the best of worlds.

He taught that the earth would be inherited by the mild-tempered ones and that God’s will would take place there. (Matthew 5:5; 6:9, 10)

Both he and his disciples knew that this world is controlled by God’s enemy, Satan the Devil, and that this is the principal reason for humans many woes. (John 12:31; 2 Corinthians 4:4; 1 John 5:19; Revelation 12:12)

first-century Christians confidently waited for this present world to be replaced by a new system of things, "new heavens and a new earth."

2 Peter 3:13; Psalm 37:11; 46:8, 9; Isaiah 25:8; 33:24; 45:18; Revelation 21:1.

Is all of this a dream, a Utopia?
No, this most critical of all times in which we are living demonstrates that we are in "the last days" of this system of things , and that the new world is therefore near.
(2 Timothy 3:1-5) Would you like to live there?

mee does

Yeah that could be the reason.. But, It may not be just because we want a better world doesn't have to mean we once had a paradise designed by a master Creator... It's like me asking if I can poke you in the eye, no? Why not? Oh, because there must of been a better place.... No, because it simply isn't nice and why would you want to be poked in the eye? There are still many that want destruction and pain and suffering because it feeds their greed... So not all of humanity is looking for this perfect paradise you invision, because people all have their own paradises... But they all look very different....

nostalgia for paradise ---- why?
Why does mankind yearn for a better world?

In our view, man is made in the imago Dei and is dimly aware of that in the innermost depths of his being.

In philosophical terms, all actions freely undertaken are ordered towards the good, so man is (or should be) naturally inclined towards the good in all he does.

Thomas

I would like to live in a world where people quit blaming the Devil and some guy from a long time ago (Adam) for their suffering which results from their own poor decision-making. I think the world would be Paradise if people would knock it off with the greed and the selfishness, swallow their pride, and roll up their shirt-sleeves. We don't suffer because Satan makes us suffer. We suffer because we are too lazy, greedy, self-centered and prideful to make better decisions, be altruistic, and DO what Jesus did.

Heaven's here on earth. But we have to be willing to give up what we have for what could be.

And the winner is.... *drum roll*

So not all of humanity is looking for this perfect paradise you invision, quote]

very true many like it just as it is .

Speaking of the world in general, Paul says that the "good news we declare is in fact veiled . . . among those who are perishing, among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ . . . might not shine through." (2 Cor. 4:3, 4)

lots of people like to be in the world of satan, they like it that way, this whole world is in the power of the wicked one 1 JOHN 5;19
And the GOODNEWS about Jesus ,and the goodnews about his kingship in Gods kingdom does not shine through to them .

For the heart of this people has grown unreceptive, and with their ears they have heard without response, and they have shut their eyes; that they might never see with their eyes and hear with their ears and get the sense of it with their hearts and turn back, and I heal them.’ matthew 13;15

but when there is a turning to Jehovah, they are HAPPY:)

"However, happy are YOUR eyes because they behold, and YOUR ears because they hear. MATTHEW 13;16

"Happy are the mild-tempered ones, since they will inherit the earth. MATTHEW 5;5

to speak injuriously of no one, not to be belligerent, to be reasonable, exhibiting all mildness toward all men. Titus 3;2

However, you, O man of God, flee from these things. But pursue righteousness, godly devotion, faith, love, endurance, mildness of temper.
I TIMOTHY 3;11

But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth,
And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.PSALM 37;11

so man is (or should be) naturally inclined towards the good in all he does.

Thomas

Consequently Jehovah saw that the badness of man was abundant in the earth and every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only bad all the time. Genesis 6;5

See! This only I have found, that the [true] God made mankind upright, but they themselves have sought out many plans.ECCLESIASTIS 7;29

For example, out of the heart come wicked reasonings, murders, adulteries, fornications, thieveries, false testimonies, blasphemies MATTHEW 15;19

In the Bible, knowledge of God is closely associated with paradise.

The prophet Isaiah said: "They will not do any harm or cause any ruin in all my holy mountain; because the earth will certainly be filled with the knowledge of Jehovah as the waters are covering the very sea."—Isaiah 11:9.
A person has to act on what he learns.

"the fruitage of the spirit." "love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control."—Galatians 5:22, 23.

You may have noticed that the first of the fruits of the spirit mentioned by Paul is love.

This is a quality that the Bible speaks much about. Jesus said: "By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves." (John 13:35)

Christians are told: "Quit being fashioned after this system of things, but be transformed by making your mind over, that you may prove to yourselves the good and acceptable and perfect will of God." (Romans 12:2)
