Attitude or Gratitude?

Hello all,

It must seem clear to everyone that there are those who "talk the talk" and those who "walk the walk" morally, ethically and have a spiritual orientation to their lives in a meaningful and largely "encompassing" way.

Dr. Steiner stated in in "How to know Higher Worlds" in my loose paraphrase:

Humility and devotion to higher things (not science, math and $$) must permeate our inner beings. Without them, it's pointless to continue.


In my experience of life and living and finallly coming/being brought to Dr. Steiner's works, it was quite eerie to read what he said and see how my life matched up esoteric training as delianated by Dr. Steiner. I am truly thankful for him and his public declaration of his inner findings.

Most importantly, I'm thankful for the Lord Jesus Christ who by being crucified laid out the pattern for us all, in my opinion, which is ego death,
which manifests in so many shades, colors, words, and actions, and keeps Love = God from us.

It IS my hope and prayer, literally, that whoever reads this would understand just how important Ego death is.

Self aggrandisement reeks and pales in comparison to Self sacrifice, when that sacrifice is done for the right reasons. Not only that but I have noticed a beauty of sorts that arises from that selfless act.

My posting on this particular forum is altogether done.
May the Lord Jesus Christ dwell richly IN you by his Holy Spirit.
If you ask him to and mean it from your heart, manifesting from your being, you WILL be saved. From sin, eternal death and yourselves.

So, once we kill our ego all that's left is Id. I think I'll keep my ego at least until all the leaders and other functionaries of the power structures give up theirs. Of course they would like me to give up mine; makes me a better sheep that way, but I think they can go first.

IMO Ego Death is entirely illusionary, and I say that having been through a whole hermit tee-toal celibate vegan phase. While the Ego can be surpressed, this is all that happens IMO - it remains, subdued, but still animate and expressed. Funny how looking back, I could still see my Ego working in subtle ways that I denied at the time, and became seen only on reflection.

But that doesn't mean we ignore science (to know) and mathematics. We need the right sort of science. The ancients, like Plato and Pythagoras, knew of the importance of mathematics in spiritual study. Rudolf Steiner himself approached the spiritual by means of his understanding of geometry.

Actually egotism is a result of a weak ego. A person with a strong sense of self doesn't need artificial means to prop himself up.

We can be humble and also have a strong sense of self. In fact as Christians we should be developing a strong self.

Humility should not be such that it destroys a man.
