unfortunately, yup.
But not really. If Hillary wasn't a known entity, and didn't have Bill...ie another woman with actual experience and not so much baggage, would have a better chance. Same thing, a black man with more experience today would have a better chance and in reality both are paving the way for the day when we do actually have a woman or black man or Asian, or Jew or Hispanic in the white house. But I am not seeing it this term unless somehow the Hillary/Obama ticket can be brokered.

Well now boys and girls,
The latest buzz is Condoleeza for McCain's running mate.
What do you think of that?

I'd like to see it, but I think it baloney, running something up the flag pole that ain't gonna happen to see who salutes.
Until John shoots himself in the foot he doesn't need a VP to win, as long as he doesn't pick some KKK neocon and he doesn't have to run against the Clinton/Obama ticket he is a shoe in.
She wants to be commisioner of the NFL, has expressed repeatedly wanting to get the heck out of politics, and more power to her.
The Republicans should be looking at who they can groom to take over in four years...and that should be the veep. If I were they highest on my list believe it or not would be Newt Gingrich.

If McCain took Rice as a running mate, and if America has been paying attention for the past eight years, McCain would be shooting himself in the foot. Rice and the rest of the CheneyBush crew belong in a maximum security prison somewhere in outer space, preferably very close to the sun. Very close.
Why do people feel that McCain is such a given in November? Do the polls tell you that? I don't understand.

Just generically about 45% of the country votes Democratic and a little less than that Republican. Obama and Clinton have effectively split the democratic vote, statistically no Republicans will be switching sides, many Dems will vote for McCain, its just numbers. Obama first time voters will just stay home rather than vote for Hillary and died in the wool Hillary voters will vote for McCain.
As far as Condi goes, John Q. Public would vote for her hands down.

I don't know. I think that when Obama and McCain square off in debates, Obama will be much more coherent, intelligent, and charismatic than the venerable soldier. I think that will have an effect on people--at least some people. Rather than just look at how things have been and what the (cooked) statistics show (and by the way, at least one poll is showing Obama as a clear winner in an Obama-McCain face-off), when I compare McCain and Obama, I just have a hard time seeing how McCain can be a shoo-in, a sure win. I am probably giving the American people too much credit on the attention and intelligence scale, though.

Very good poll and exactly what most of them lack. Forget popular vote, it is electoral college votes by state that count. And as we get closer and as you indicate debates start we'll find more info (Obama has improved over his debate time).
I see they are now looking at a Hillary/Obama ticket vs. McCain/Rice and Hillary loses New York, which would indicate landslide.

Re: Black President In The Usa? Are We Ready?
ready or not here he comes. the people have spoken and the order of the days to come is change. Change, good or bad I hope and pray it is for the better. My son who is in his 20s and a construction worker says well father it could not get any worse. Being the dad and the smart one of the family said oh yes it can always get worse. I don't know if it will or not but yes it can get worse. I pray it gets better I pray we get on top of our game. I pray Obama takes us to the promise land. that we stand on the mountain top. there is lots and lots of hopes and dreams riding on this man. I for one didn't vote for him or the other. I voted for ?? and I am pulling for Obama. God bless Obama and these United strates of america.

Re: Black President In The Usa? Are We Ready?
I cried. There is so much that was unprecedented in this election that gives me hope. America overcame its racism enough to have a mixed race President. America's youth overcame our cynicism enough to be a voice for change.
I realize the limits of a President's power and the enormity of the problems facing Obama.
But I still count this election as a huge stand for HOPE. At the heart of it, this is the first election that I've come out of it more hopeful than I went in. And the efforts of both parties to be at least civil and bipartisan, to encourage Americans in cooperative effort to fix our problems... this is amazing.
Tonight, I mostly raised a glass to my grandfather who passed away last year. He worked for years and years to end racism in the South. And as Obama won, I knew my grandfather is cheering where ever he is. He may not have lived to see this night, but I know in his small way, his work, like so many Americans', was instrumental in leading us to this moment.

Obama is mixed race his mother is white so he is just as much white as he is black, not that it matters.
