Re: book: And tango makes three
I'm sorely tempted to ask an online friend of mine about the controversy (she works in the New York Public library, so she's familiar with both the penguins and with controversy.) It's been a while since I pestered the one I call "Her Sataness".

Re: book: And tango makes three
Well after reading links, which very probably stretch to far more words than the book in question contains, I am still loathe to comment without having actually read the book. But in general I am against book censorship and the people who think they have the right to remove such books from library shelves should be ashamed of themselves. Do they have nothing better to think about?

Re: book: And tango makes three
wil,
You have a heartfelt thank you from my friend ("Her Sataness"). She's going to inform the head Children's librarian and the Board of Trustees about a possible challenge (I won't post what she had to say about the parents who challenged the book [I, Brian wants to keep the board GA and I don't want to rack up several infractions with just one post {the language would make Quahom1 and Alex P. }].) I sent her prescription over the internet: Take two minipin dogs and call me in the morning.
*To do list: read And Tango Makes Three*

Re: book: And tango makes three
Emails from the public are four to one in support of the Library.
Now this is a little rural county, big controversy for them. Most of the constituents of the area would probably favor against the library, but also favor the constitution, so its a sticky wicket.

Good on the Librarian for sticking to her guns.

Re: book: And tango makes three
Just took it out of the library here on campus (read it inside, but took it out anyways to read and to show to others who I think might be interested.)
Might renew it after the time's up, too.

Is there a pirate copy online we can sneak a peek at?

Re: book: And tango makes three
I don't know, but if it takes you more than 20 minutes to read, go back to early primary school for basic reading. It took my Russian Studies professor around 25 minutes, and English isn't his first language (or even his second.)
You might be able to find a copy through your "local" library (just access their electronic card catatog and do a search.)
