Bush, God And War

Do you REALLY think that President Bush talked with God and God told him to invade Iraq and spread democracy and peace in the Middle East? (Bush's words)

Hello Simple_Man,

Could you please provide a reference that he said that or is it a joke as it appears? Thanks in advance.

Love and Peace,
JM

Thanks Wil,

However, it seems to be just hearsay as reported and though I am not familiar with the Guardian, it seems they were playing with it as a story that may or may not be true. A look at the picture with the halo speaks for itself.

USA Today
Quote:
Bush believes he was called by God to lead the nation at this time, says Commerce Secretary Don Evans, a close friend who talks with Bush every day. His history degree from Yale makes him mindful of the importance of the moment. He knows he's making "history-changing decisions," Evans says. But Bush doesn't keep a diary or other personal record of the events that will form his legacy. Aides take notes, but there's no stenographer in most meetings, nor are they videotaped or recorded.
Appears unlike Nixon Bush is a little more careful about who tapes what...

No, is the simple answer. I am also waiting to see where this democracy and peace is going to come from.

I took this from the second link Wil gave:

He is convinced that the Iraqi leader is literally insane

Do the words pot, kettle and black spring to mind?

Re: Bush, God And War

I have the curious karmic circumstance of living in the shiny brass buckle of the Bible belt, in the southern USA. Nevertheless, I see the following bumper sticker quite often:
Who Would Jesus Bomb?
We all know good & well what this war is really about how, and how beautifully it has served the War Pigs of this Administration.

What amazes me is that my local news channel still says things like, "Twenty PEOPLE died after a bomb went off today ... etc., etc. FIVE of them were Americans." - Meanwhile, the screen behind the news reporter says, "FIVE die in bomb explosion." WTF???

Even if it said, "Five Americans" I'd be kind of pissed. These American lives are better than Iraqi lives because of what exactly?

But you see, it doesn't even say, "Five AMERICANS died in bomb explosion" on the background. It just says, "Five died ..." And yet, the reporter says in plain English, "TWENTY people died ... " - and then they break it down into five American soldiers, and maybe 15 civilians.

But folks, let's face it. The War Pigs don't give a **** about any of the Iraqis, soldiers, civilians, political leaders, or otherwise. All they need to see is the Mighty Greenback, waving its glorious banner over Iraqi soil ... and everything else is incidental, just numbers somewhere on a page.

And for smirky, it's mostly about ego, but that doesn't mean that the Powers that Be aren't trying. I suspect that there's an aura of Light, Love and Strength surrounding him like you & I wouldn't believe! The problem is, it's just seldom - AWFUL seldom - that anything in his own aura gives all this potential GOOD an inlet. I mean, when you watch this man on TV, does the word `BRIGHT' exactly come to mind?

Okay, how about, `THOUGHTFUL?' ROFL ... umm, yeah, I didn't think so!

Let's try ... `Compassionate?' No? How about, `EVEN HAS A CLUE?'

Yeah. But God "talks to him," and "tells him to go bomb people," and spread democracy. Man, that idiot couldn't spread democracy if it was a case of the crabs!

I say all this, yet I believe, and I affirm, God meets us where we are. And there are no exceptions. So yes, God "talks" to him, and the only NOBLE thing to do is to give dubya the benefit of the doubt. But what that translates to, for you and me, is PRAY. Pray HARD!

I am trying to decide whether Jesus (pbuh) is in heaven crying when he see's this or if he is just seriously annoyed about it.

Nice post Andrew.

Spoken like a true card, who thinks he knows the mind of another man, especially one with so much power, and so much responsibility, and accountability...

So easy to talk one down, when the accuser doesn't have to bend under the weight of serving so many others and history...like the one.

I call it cheap shots, at my president. Spit balls, from a "kid" who doesn't know any better. I call it cheap shots at my people (my nation), who voted him in twice. I call it cheap shots at the very spirit that is these United States.

Speaking one's mind is one thing. Belittling others is a whole different ball game. There is more than one kind of "pig" in this world.
