yes, muslims can be friends with people of all faiths.
But, we do not pray with other gods, and they shall not pray to ours says in the Quran. But, yes of course you be friends with others. People have many missconceptions of Islam, and other faiths, reason they have little knowledge or none at all.

Seriously--I think it depends on how one interprets the lyrics. Personally, I find a big element of hope therein.

Zeras I agree with you completely and until people begin to discuss (without all the we're right and you are wrong stuff) we will never rid ourselves of these misconceptions.

I have many Christian friends. That is all good. Most of them are very liberal and open minded as it is.

The problem, for me, with Muslims is not the fact that I am Pagan by beliefs, or Jewish by ancestry/active in the local Jewish community here. It is the fact that I am Israeli. That I was raised in Israel, that I am a proud Israeli citizen and that I have served in the IDF.

That is where a lot of Muslims, from my own personal experience, shy away from me. And honestly, I keep a very low profile in certain places when it comes to my Israeli origin. Even living in the US, I'd rather not flaunt it or advertise it.

The political situation out in the Middle East is just too complicated.

No shying away here. I can understand why you keep it quiet, I was in the British army and many of my friends back home in England are Irish (both Catholic and Protestant) and it is easier just not to mention it.

I could never agree with what the Israeli government are doing to the Arabs now but that is for human reasons and not religious ones, as I feel it is a political issue and I take each person as they come. You are right the Mid East situation is way too complicated and I pray for but don't expect to see an early resolution.

It would be a humbling experience if I, at some time in the future, needed help from a Muslim for a life-and-death matter . . . and so I am thinking . . . better to be friends than enemies.

Just as well I've been drinking enough water. Gotta watch the sugar intake though. Both kidneys are ok. But . . . maybe ten years down the track . . . you never know what happens. Life falls apart. I could get diabetes. Heart attack. Cancer. Gotta keep away from grilled foods and carcinogens.

While we all think that the Jews shouldn't mix with anyone but Jews, and Samaritans should keep away from the Jews and stick around only with Samaritans . . .

Christians with Christians, Muslims with Muslims . . .

. . . aren't we preventing the inevitable?
