Coming to foundationist.org...

Well, at the time of this posting nothing is actually finished. The forum is more or less, with only superficial changes to the graphics remaining to do - plus the ersizing and uploading of lots more very nice avatars.

However, at this moment in time the main categories of the main site are pretty empty.

I could add simple pages linking to other sites - but at the moment I'm trying very hard to get as much here as possible. That doesn't simply mean downloading and pasting up - I have to reformat, then set up in basic php jigsaws, before uploading. In the case of large files this can take a while (cf, the Rig Veda - sheesh!).

At the moment the aim is to collect world religious texts and post them up online and locally. After I have finished with the main world religions, I can get together files for filling out the "other religions" section, covering such issues as Wicca, Krishnamurti, Ba'hai, etc.

Once those basic (but long strides) have been taken, I can then expand into other planned (perhaps, necessary) areas - I'm going to open up a section on the ancient world and their mythologies (extinct religon, if you like). I also fully intend to open up a philosophy section. I imagine that will be pretty huge as well, with so many areas and categories of philosophy to cover.

If that wasn't enough, I'd also very much like to create a science section, to delve into issues such as Quantum Mechanics and relativistic theory. I may also have a section on the natural world occur together with that - a science/nature section, if you will.

After then...who knows, maybe some literature.

But really, that's going a little far - it's going to be an achievement as it is to get the basics all up and fully completed. But I'll get there.

Anyway - there's fair warning - so if it's not there yet, you know what's coming.

Peace, Love, and Harmony,

brian

And remember you have promised to me that you would seek to include a vast swathe of early Christian texts online here. I know you have mentioned Apocryphal writings and pseudopigrapha, but how about earliest Church Fathers also, such as Papias and Ignatius?

Papias and co. would certainly be worth consideration - I'm alerady preparing the Diatessaron of Tatian for inclusion in the Apocryphal Gospels. Considering the place of those mentioned in the development of NT canon, it would certainly be something I would look at. May have to link offsite for a while, though.

Re:Coming to foundationist.org...

A lot of the sections were quite empty - until this morning. I've rushed up some quick info on the various religions, and added some poor articles in the "other spirituality" section for the moment. Please note that if you see something that doesn't look finished, then you're probably right!

To the best of my knowledge, the only sections completed to any degree of satisfaction are Hinduism, and General Articles. Everything else will follow...

Oh, and btw - I do intend to add some more graphics - preferably a msall one in each section title when you browse those pages - but as I hope you all appreciate, I've generally got a lot of work on my hands!

I have just looked at your new Christian section. I am impressed that you have tracked down so many non-canonical writings. I will be kept very busy indeed.

Re:Coming to foundationist.org...

At the request of Dave I will try to get as many of the non-canonical texts up over the next week - if I can.

Still haven't written up a summary page for Christianity, or Biddhism - alternative religions either. And got to format and build the buddhist "Dhammapada" pages. And the same for the "Tao-Te-Ching".

Would like to get the Koran up as well. Don't think I'll acheive everything over a week, but I'll try. I do have a real life, you know.

Then I should be settled enough to start looking at building up a philosophy section. Oh, man...

Re:Coming to foundationist.org...

I was going to post yesterday that I doubt I could get the section up, as I did not think I could get the copyright permissions for some of the work. I didn't see any point hosting a handful and redirecting for everything else.

But this morning I got an e-mail from Kevin at New Advent giving permission for use of materials from the Church fathers section - so I think I'll try to get it all done this weekend, time permitting (reformatting the texts and building the pages will be very time consuming - there are 120 texts I can now use).

I cannot (yet?) get permission to host the Nag Hammadi material, so that will remain offsite.
