Re: completely useless thread
Where’s the useless thread wil, I’m impressed!
I’m reminded of a Daoist story of a forest.
Over time all the trees were cut down for making into houses, boats, tools or whatever it was that the people in the nearby village needed the wood for. All except one tree. This was not cut down because it was so gnarled and misshapen that everyone could tell that it was completely useless for anything at all. So the tree lived and thrived to a great old age, unthreatened by the axe.
(Make up your own point to this little story.)

Right, so you'd rather be a living entity rather than a dead axe handle?

Re: completely useless thread
If I could clone you.... And you died... You kept all memory of every single second of your life even how you died and your last breath..... That clone wouldn't be you would it? You'd be dead.... You personally wouldn't be that clone that freaking clone would be different.... Right? I mean you wouldn't know would you, you'd be dead. You wouldn't keep on going....Would you? I mean like, the clones chain of thought wouldn't be your's you wouldn't know it's thoughts or movement or life.... So what would the point be in me freaking cloning you?

Re: completely useless thread
Simpson (86) asked “if someone had all the other qualities you desire in a marriage partner would you marry this person if you were not in love?” The highest proportion of yes came from Pakistan, Thailand and India (collectivist countries) and the lowest from the USA and UK (individualist countries). Western: dyads (2 person groups), romantic love, individualistic, voluntary and temporary. Non-Western: family ties, responsibilities, collectivist, involuntary and permanent. Western psychologists tend to equate “relationships” with “Western relationships” – a form of ethnocentrism.

You know I didn't know I could get a chuckle out of that when I wasn't even around to see it. Just the fact that you did it is so enjoyable to me, thank you.
I used to always try to time my humor, an unexpected punchline right as I caught someone in mid guzzle. Soda, beer, mixed drinks are excellent for the bubble and the sting but milk has its reward as well.
Is it wrong to enjoy this..I've given it up, I miss it though, is it wrong to be so calculating to actually insitigate it? I've never seen any permanent or even temporary harm...some embarrassment, but they've always beat me for doing it, and added a couple more wacks when I admitted it was intentional...
My worst one was self inflicted. I set someone up I can't remember how, but their shoe dropped exactly when I had just completed a bet that I could eat a tablespoon full of dried crushed red hot peppers. The swallow was halfway down, I guffawed and forced a fleet of pepper flakes up my nose...talk about burn....I was snorting beer through a straw trying to ease the pain...but I won the $5.
Don't try this at home, I'm a trained professional.

I was thinking about posting from my universal remote control programming manual, but then I realized that it makes a really good bookmark, so nix on that idea....
