Condemnation

A moment of silence for a lost, missing, displaced, censored, and hence, condemned thread...

... Praise GOD that Jesus was comfortable eating and drinking with non-Christians. AMEN!

Sorry no idea what you are talking about but the second part made me smile.

Hey I am happy eating and drinking with just about anyone (as long as they don't drink alcohol or eat pork).

Oops sorry I just remembered you don't get my sense of humour - please note it was a joke about Muslims.

No, that was funny! No apology necessary.

BTW I'm a Christian that doesn't drink alcohol or eat pork. That and a dime...

Cyberpi tends not to get my humour.

May I ask why you don't drink or eat pork? Is it for religious reasons or because you don't like them?

Salaam

I like Cyperpi. He/she seems to have a dry sense of humour like moi. Course, I've been wrong before...

They're just ugly!

I don't eat pork because I believe G-d said it wasn't a good idea and prohibited at least some people (I think me also) from eating it. I'm a vegetarian because...

1. I believe G-d intended us to be that way.
2. "Seeing that all creatures fear death, cause harm to come to none" (my paraphrase)
3. I don't care much for the taste of meat. I've been known to eat a steak once a year, maybe.

but that's just me...

Best Regards,
Mark

Oh I love chatting to Cyberpi, the sense of humour thing is just a joke from our first encounter.

Ugly Piggies are so cute. All of G-d's creatures are beautiful (with the exception of snakes, they give me the creeps but they can be beautiful - if they don't do that wriggly thing).

Love your attitude about animals

Re: Condemnation

I just like being out in nature examining plants, seeing the little creatures and what they do and how it all works together.

Love it!

You and family are welcome to my home anytime and there will be no pork or alcohol served.

In case this thread is at risk of being condemned too, I'll place a verse that I was referring to:

Matthew 11:19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

Likewise, I did regret my 'drink' comment in that thread... it probably came more from these verses:

Matthew 26:39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

Matthew 26:42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

Note in 26:39 that Jesus prostrates to God in prayer. As you may know... eat, cup, and drink mean more than eat, cup, and drink. I do find that carries over into the Qur'an.

Salaam

Incredible isn't it, G-d certainly did an amazing job (if I may use that word) of His creations. My favourite is looking at the stars, trying to imagine what may be out there, if G-d can create such wonderful things here on our tiny planet what might He have created out there.

As salaam aleykum Cyberpi

Hey we just might take you up on that one day. If you and yours are ever in Egypt you would be more than welcome in our home (don't bring the beers though).

Oh don't regret it, it was a great conversation and in places I agreed with you 100%. Many things carry over to the Quran, G-d doesn't change the message just because He changes the Prophet.

It is sad that some people are so sensitive about discussions, try being a Muslim and telling a joke wherein G-d has a sense of humour - woops not appreciated. We have minds and they naturally question, that is surely how we learn.

Sorry what are you quoting when you say 26:39?

Salaam

Sadly I have to work for about a month... hope you stay around. We'll be to Egypt someday.

This might be interesting . . .

Romans 14:1-12 appears to have something to say about vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. Trouble is, I eat pork without much of a second thought for vegetarians. I don't think twice that I might be desecrating something sacred.

So I eat pork but I don't drink alcohol. I have tasted drops of alcohol before, and only as a courtesy when I visit someone's home and they ask me if I want to taste some. I've never been drunk and I don't drink it even for pleasure. Alcohol just doesn't appeal to me. It tastes bitter and creates this burning sensation when it goes down your throat. I can't really derive much pleasure from it if I get this burning sensation when I drink it.

It may sound a bit "effeminate" to say this but it's like I'm not "man enough" to drink alcohol. I take one sip and ouch!!!! That hurt. Feels like some fire burning in my throat. I don't ever want to drink that again. Too much alcohol could set my throat on fire.

Pork yes; yum (sorry). Alcohol no.

Kinda like when I tried to drink the vanilla extract as a kid!
