this is where Passover comes from and was done to prevent the death of the firstborn males and upon the final attempt of Moses speaking to Pharao,
Lamb's blood on the door of every house of Israel, so that the Angel of death would see the mark and leave the first born males of that house alone. Interesting to note that an egyptian house was spared as well, because a Hebrew also applied blood to that house's door in order to spare the oldest son of that home. It was done without the egyptian family's knowledge. (at least that is what I remember reading).
