Re: Creationism, Evolution or Intelligent Design?
Kindest Regards, Buzzly, welcome to CR!
You might consider checking here: http://www.comparative-religion.com/...n-or-6115.html
Considering this is a very recent thread, I'm not certain if you are so new you missed it...or if you are pulling my leg.

Re: Creationism, Evolution or Intelligent Design?
Juan,
Saw the thread. Liked it. Commented. Then I made this poll so we could vote and tally.
I hope that's okay with you.

Very well, no skin off my nose. I couldn't vote if I wanted to, there's no choice that says "I don't know."

Re: Creationism, Evolution or Intelligent Design?
The poll is invalid.
There are basically three belief catagories:
1) Creationism - That God created the universe and the world, with the general consensus that God made the world in six literal days.
2) Evolution - That the universe and the world came into existence through natural processes without the aid of a creative force through eons of time.
3) Theistic Evolution - That the universe and the world came into existence through natural processes aided by a creative force through eons of time.
The poll choice of Intelligent Design could fall under catagories 1 and 3 above. So since one could believe in both Creationism and Intelligent Design, one cannot make a selection in the poll.

Re: Creationism, Evolution or Intelligent Design?
I believe in a creative beginning and selective evolution from thence.

Re: Creationism, Evolution or Intelligent Design?
Of course there could be an infinite number of answers to this question. The ones I have listed are the main categories of public debate. I have also included "something else" which should theoretically cover everything else with the possible exception of not having an opinion.

Ah, but see, herein is my difficulty: "something else" implies a belief; a belief of, well, something else. I do not believe I know anything on this particular subject, or many others for that matter. This allows me the privilege of looking at all sides and considering...then weighing the merits of each against each other. Sometimes they cancel each other out, other times one view overwhelmingly eclipses others. On this subject though, there is a great deal of doctrine and dogma taken on faith by the specific parties involved, each having their own preferred "truths."
Frankly, I see no reason they all; creation, intelligent design and evolution could not be co-equal ways of looking at the overall picture. Simple *fact* is, none of these "philosophies" completely and adequately explains the sum total anyway, and any single one must be taken with a dose of faith.
Before you lay into me about how evolution is "scientifically" proven, may I direct you to previous discussions on this subject that note various fallacies and shortcomings of the evolutionary theory? Besides, creation and intelligent design are ideologically proven as well, certainly to a level comparable to that of science. We are speaking simply of preferred memetic paradigms, too frequently pitted against each other in some bizarre rivalry. A rivalry that I might add is entirely unnecessary.
It has been stated at this forum many times, as a paraphrase of Stephen J. Gould's "different magisteria:"
"Science explains how, Religion explains why."
Shall we continue?

Of course, I could paraphrase Yoda: "Know, or Know not: there is no believe."

Well I referred to another person's ideas in another thread as "naive" and I see no reason not to do so here also. But hey if it makes you happy the go with it.
I know you'd love to continue debating this but that was not really my intention when I started this thread. I'm merely wanted to conduct a poll. Others might want to debate you though.
