Braking is critical.

Getting a car to run
is not as critical as getting it to stop.

1. Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
2. Procrastinate today! (Tomorrow may be too late.)
3. NOW is the time to do things later!
4. If at first you don't succeed, why try again?
-Woods' Laws of Procrastination

"I would procrastinate, but I haven't gotten around to it yet."
-Bishop's Addendum to Wood's Laws of Procrastination

Do you know why Satan is angry all the time? Because when ever he works a particularly clever bit of mischief God uses it to serve his own righteous purpose.

Religion is no more possible without prayer than poetry without language or music without atmosphere.

We ought to act with simplicity, Speaking to him frankly and plainly and imploring his assistance in our affairs, just as they happen.

In seasons of distress and grief,
my soul has often found relief,
and oft escaped the tempter’s snare ,
by thy return, sweet hour of prayer.

If a rich man is proud of his wealth, he should not be praised until it is known how he employs it.

of whom am I afraid?

Actually it's the reverse. It means you've stopped thinking that your ego is the be all and end all of the universe and you no longer take refuge in it, nor in the delusions that a particular belief system will save you, nor that what you have in your bank will make you happy, nor that having the right image will free you in any way. So it's more letting go of all labels than taking on a new one. This might be difficult to understand from the standpoint of those who read about Buddhism and don't practice because the dualistic mind actually can't fully comprehend what it is to be without labels, and what it is to not need to feel superior. Oh and Zen is Buddhist by the way.
