Heh. Right on.

I don't know about this whole ethics dilemma. I mean, in order to meaningfully answer this question, I think we have to really look deeply at the issue. The root question that should be addressed is:
Is work ethical?

Re: Do You Post at Work?

Well Path, we do have a penchant for drifting from the OP sooooo...

Do you define work as:

Being a contributor and supporter of the Corporate Slave State fostered by Milton Friedmans ideas of Neo Liberal economics?

Being of service to mankind and recieving compensation in return?

Or perhaps another possibility?

Both B and C, and most certainly not A.

Re: Do You Post at Work?

Im afraid that I cheat on a question like this. Since the age of 38 when I retired from the military questions like that just let me piss people off. With a steady check and medical benefits I dont HAVE to work so I get to work at whatever I like.

Do you post at work? Yep, posting is my work.
Do you game at work? Yep, gaming is my work.
Do you read email, surf the web, login to strange sites, look for other jobs, etc etc etc.
Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes. (I was asked once... no, I havent found a way to get paid to look at porn all day)

I have many jobs. They are all on the internet. They were chosen by me more for the fun-factor than any money or benefits (altho I do try to get something for it and actually some of them bring in tidy sums).

Some of my sig lines:

Telecommute is great, but Internet is fattening.

Darn those little golf-ball webcams on computers nowadays. I used to be able to work in my underwear. Now its underwear and a tie.

You know how it goes. Some have lives.
And some have virtual lives.
And both groups feel the other one should.

Get a life? No thanks. Just had one.
Im retired now and get to play games all day. (envy me)

Get offline and get a life?!?
Excuse me but I have a life ThankYouVeryMuch!
Life, Job, hobbies, circle of friends.
(Its virtual but its a life)

Re: Do You Post at Work?

I don't own a computer (amazing but true!), so if I'm posting, I'm working. And no, I don't think it's ethical, BUT it keeps my brain alert and functioning in a job that would otherwise turn it into a pile of goo. lol

Re: Do You Post at Work?

I'm a carpenter so it would be pretty hard for me to post at work. I do think about things that I would like to post about while I'm at work. I usually skim the board in the morning just before I leave for work looking for something interesting to set my mind to for the day. As far as ethics are concerned, well, that's tricky. I'm always mindful of the fact that management is the enemy. The shirts are always pushing to try to get another drop or two of blood out of me, but I have my ways of pushing back. It's a game we play.
