If ye know these things, blessed are ye that do them.
oh and Jesus saying (quoting old testament)
Ye are Gods
and again
You can do everything I have done and more...

I think the term is "Ye are gods"...hence God like, but not God. However some Christian sects think that we will become Gods in our own right...is this what you think?

Re: Favorite Bible Quotes
Today is the first Sunday of Advent and the commencement of the Catholic Liturgical Year - so I offer this as a seasonal greeting to all, a reading from the Liturgy of this day:
"But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand."
Isaiah 64:8
Pax,
Thomas

Re: Favorite Bible Quotes
King James Version
103:14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.this verse means a lot to me. i remember when i first read it, it made me to realize that no matter what the situation, problem or infirmity, that God remembers us & does not forget who we are & what we are made of. He knows me & knows everything about me & i find joy in that, that someone so much bigger than I, would care & remember me.

Re: Favorite Bible Quotes
Ooh, this has to be my favorite quote from the Bible:
1 Corinthians 7:3-4
"The husband should not deprive his wife of sexual intimacy, which is her right as a married woman, nor shold the wife deprive her husband. The wife gives authority over her body to her husband, and the husband also gives authority over his body to his wife."
God truly is great, indeed.
Now I'm only 21, which might have something to do with why I find this verse so appealing

Re: Favorite Bible Quotes
That is why a man will leave his father and his mother and he must stick to his wife and they must become one flesh............ Genesis 2;4
(Ephesians 5:31) "For this reason a man will leave [his] father and [his] mother and he will stick to his wife, and the two will become one flesh
(Hebrews 13:4) Let marriage be honorable among all, and the marriage bed be without defilement, for God will judge fornicators and adulterers. yes i agree with the last poster ,honorable marriage is great ,and just what God intended for married people.

Re: Favorite Bible Quotes
YOU young men and also YOU virgins,
YOU old men together with boys.
Let them praise the name of Jehovah,
For his name alone is unreachably high.
His dignity is above earth and heaven...psalm 148;12-13
(1 Chronicles 29:11) Yours, O Jehovah, are the greatness and the mightiness and the beauty and the excellency and the dignity; for everything in the heavens and in the earth is [yours]. Yours is the kingdom, O Jehovah, the One also lifting yourself up as head over all.
(Psalm 113:4) Jehovah has become high above all the nations; His glory is above the heavens

Re: Favorite Bible Quotes
Joh 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
1Pe 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all ofyou be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

Re: Favorite Bible Quotes
For there has been a child born to us, there has been a son given to us; and the princely rule will come to be upon his shoulder. And his name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. 7 To the abundance of the princely rule and to peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and upon his kingdom in order to establish it firmly and to sustain it by means of justice and by means of righteousness, from now on and to time indefinite. The very zeal of Jehovah of armies will do this ...isaiah 9;6-7
yes no longer is Jesus a baby ,but he is a mighty king in the heavens as king of Gods heavenly kingdom

I'm hoping that this thread will be used for fellowship rather than preaching at one another so here are just a couple of suggestions. Keep the quotes short, please give the book, chapter and verse, please tell which translation you are using, and comment if you wish on why you like the quote.
I put this in the Christianity forum because things posted in general monothesim tend to get overlooked a lot. However, anyone who has a favorite Bible passage is welcome to post it here. Oh, one last suggestion (sorry for the micromanaging), please do not criticize/debate other people's quotes or stories. Oh, one more last thing, no need to limit yourself to just one post here.
cheers,

Too many good verses to quote just one, but my favorite book is Song of Solomon.
I would say my favorite verse in that book is a simple one liner...
"...your name is perfume poured out..."
So simple, but so delightful.
