Re: Favorite Song Lyrics

Oh, 17th. You've gone too far this time. TOO FAR I tell you. Hell awaits.

Just kiddn'.

But hey aren't politics and religion s'posed to stay out the longue, yo? I know it's hard, but gotta draw the line somewhere. Right?

'Kay, well here's the lyrics to my new most favorite song of all time until tomorrow. I luv it.

Imogen Heap
Hide and Seek

where are we?
what the hell is going on?
the dust has only just begun to fall
crop circles in the carpet
sinking, feeling

spin me round again
and rub my eyes,
this can't be happening
when busy streets a mess with people
would stop to hold their heads heavy

hide and seek
trains and sewing machines
all those years
they were here first

oily marks appear on walls
where pleasure moments hung before the takeover,
the sweeping insensitivity of this still life

hide and seek
trains and sewing machines (you won't catch me around here)
blood and tears
they were here first

Mmmm what do you say,
Mmmm that you only meant well?
well of course you did
Mmmm what do you say,
Mmmm that's all for the best?
ah of course it is
Mmmm what do you say?
Mmmm that it's just what we need
you decided this
Mmmm what do you say?
Mmmm what did she say?

ransom notes keep falling out your mouth
mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cut outs
speak no feeling
no I don't believe you
you don't care a bit,
you don't care a bit

(hide and seek)
ransom notes keep falling out your mouth
midsweet talk, newspaper word cut outs

(hide and seek)
speak no feeling
no, I don't believe you
you don't care a bit,
you don't care a bit

(hide and seek)
oh no, you don't care a bit
oh no, you don't care a bit

(hide and seek)
oh no, you don't care a bit
you don't care a bit
you don't care a bit

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics

Song For America, Kansas
(Kerry Livgren)

Virgin land of forest green, dark and stormy plains, here all life abounds
Sunlit valley, mountain fields, unseen in the rain, here all life abounds
No man rules this land, no human hand has soiled this paradise
Waiting patiently, so much to see, so rich in Earth's delights
Painted desert, sequined sky, stars that fill the night, here all life
abounds
Rivers flowing to the sea, sunshine pure and bright, here all life abounds
No man rules this land, no human hand has soiled this paradise
Waiting patiently, so much to see, so rich in Earth's delights
So the maiden lies in waiting for the sails to reach the shore
Land of beauty and abunance, innocent, you opened wide your door
Wanderers found the waiting treasure, full of gifts beyond their measure
Milk and honey for our pleasure...
Across the sea there came a multitude, sailing ships upon the wave
Filled with visions of Utopia and the freedom that they crave
Ravage, plunder, see no wonder, rape and kill and tear asunder
Chop the forest, plow it under...
Highways scar the mountainsides, buildings to the sky, people all around
So we rule this land, and her we stand upon our paradise
Dreaming of a place, our weary race is ready to rise.

Wish we could turn back the hands of time when this country still like a virgin.

::chuckle::

17th Angel, that cracks me up! It's always fun to see lyrics like that written as poetry. I haven't heard that song (unfortunately). The lyrics remind me of the Tootsie Roll.

Oh no!! Now I've got to post this:

LIKE A VIRGIN

Written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly

I made it through the wilderness
Somehow I made it through
Didn't know how lost I was
Until I found you

I was beat incomplete
I'd been had, I was sad and blue
But you made me feel
Yeah, you made me feel
Shiny and new

Like a virgin
Touched for the very first time
Like a virgin
When your heart beats
Next to mine

Gonna give you all my love, boy
My fear is fading fast
Been saving it all for you
'Cause only love can last

You're so fine and you're mine
Make me strong, yeah you make me bold
Oh your love thawed out
Yeah, your love thawed out
What was scared and cold

Like a virgin
Touched for the very first time
Like a virgin
With your heartbeat
Next to mine

Oooh, oooh, oooh
You're so fine and you're mine
I'll be yours 'till the end of time
'Cause you made me feel
Yeah, you made me feel
I've nothing to hide

Like a virgin
Touched for the very first time
Like a virgin
With your heartbeat
Next to mine

Like a virgin, ooh, ooh
Like a virgin
Feels so good inside
When you hold me, and your heart beats, and you love me

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Ooh, baby
Can't you hear my heart beat
For the very first time?

Ooooooh!!

Old Hippie

He turns FIFTY this Sunday
In his hair he found some gray
But he still ain't changed his lifestyle
He likes it better the old way
So he grows a little garden in the back yard by the fence
He's consuming what he's growing nowadays in self defense
He get's out there in the twilight zone
Sometimes when it just don't make no sense

He gets off on country music
Cause disco left him cold
He's got young friends into new wave
Buts he's just too friggin old
And he dreams at night of Woodstock
And the day John Lennon died
How the music made him happy
And the silence made him cry
Yea he thinks of John sometimes
And he has to wonder why

CHORUS
He's an old hippie
And he don't know what to do
Should hang on to the old
Should he grab on to the new
He's an old hippie
His new life is just a bust
He ain't trying to change nobody
He just trying real hard to adjust

He was sure back in the sixties
That everyone was hip
Then they sent him off to Vietnam
On his senior trip
And they forced him to become a man
While he was still a boy
And in each wave of tragedy
He waited for the joy
Now this world may change around him
But he just can't change no more

CHORUS

Well he stays away a lot now
From the parties and the clubs
And he's thinking while he's joggin' 'round
Sure is glad he quit the hard drugs
Cause him and his kind get more endangered everyday
And pretty soon the species
Will just up and fade away
Like the smoke from that torpedo
Just up and fade away

~ most of it fits....
not 35 but 50
and never went to war..

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics

Hey wil

From me to you--HB on Saturday!

All ya gotta do is go here and find the mp3 link for "Old Blevins" from the Austin Lounge Lizards. Now, give it a chance...it starts out rather slow, and maybe not your style, but I promise, it's worth a listen. I would have just posted the lyrics, but it loses something without the music. LOL--there is an exit off a highway between here and Austin called "Old Blevins Road". I often wonder if that is where the idea for the song came from...

Hope you can play it.

InPeace,
InLove

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics

Styx - Show me the way..

Every night I say a prayer, in the hopes that there is, a heaven.
Every day I am more confused. As the saints turn into sinners.
All the heroes and legends I knew as a child, have fallen to idols of clay….
And I feel this empty place inside, so afraid, that I’ve lost my faith.

Show me the way! Show me the way!
Take me tonight! To the river.
And wash my illusions away.
Show me the way.

And as I, slowly drift to sleep, for a moment dreams are sacred.
I close my eyes and know there’s a peace, in a world so filled with hatred.
That I wake up, each morning, and turn on the news, to find we’ve so far to go.
And I keep on hoping for a sign, so afraid that I just won’t know.

Show me the way! Show me the way!
Bring me tonight! To the mountain..
And take my confusion, away.
And show me the way.

And if I see a light, should I believe?
Tell me how will I know?

Show me the way, show me the way.
Take me tonight, to the river.
And wash my illusions away.
Show me the way, show me the way.
Give me the strength, and the courage.
To believe that I’ll get there someday!
Show me the way.

Every night, I say a prayer..
In hope that, there’s a heaven..

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics

Rush - A Farewell to Kings

When they turn the pages of history
When these days have passed long ago
Will they read of us with sadness
For the seeds that we let grow
We turned our gaze
From the castles in the distance
Eyes cast down
On the path of least resistance

Cities full of hatred
Fear and lies
Withered hearts
And cruel, tormented eyes
Scheming demons
Dressed in kingly guise
Beating down the multitude
And scoffing at the wise

The hypocrites are slandering
The sacred halls of truth
Ancient nobles showering
Their bitterness on youth
Can’t we find
The minds that made us strong
Can’t we learn
To feel what’s right and wrong

Cities full of hatred
Fear and lies
Withered hearts
And cruel, tormented eyes
Scheming demons
Dressed in kingly guise
Beating down the multitude
And scoffing at the wise
Can’t we raise our eyes
And make a start
Can’t we find the minds
To lead us closer to the heart ...

~+~+~+~+~+~

- seems somehow fitting to me, whether we look at the big picture, or ponder over sad, recent events ...

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics

Moody Blues - Melancholy Man

I'm a melancholy man, that's what I am,
All the world surrounds me, and my feet are on the ground.
I'm a very lonely man, doing what I can,
All the world astounds me and I think I understand
That we're going to keep growing, wait and see.

When all the stars are falling down
Into the sea and on the ground,
And angry voices carry on the wind,
A beam of light will fill your head
And you'll remember what's been said
By all the good men this world's ever known.
Another man is what you'll see,
Who looks like you and looks like me,
And yet somehow he will not feel the same,
His life caught up in misery, he doesn't think like you and me,
'Cause he can't see what you and I can see.

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics

Seasons
Chris Cornell
(From the motion picture "Singles" soundtrack")

Summer nights and long warm days
Are stolen as the old moon falls
My mirror shows another face
Another place to hide it all
Another place to hide it all
And Im lost, behind
The words I'll never find
And I'm left behind
As seasons roll on by

Sleeping with a full moon blanket
Sand and feathers for my head
Dreams have never been the answer
And dreams have never made my bed
Dreams have never made my bed

And I'm lost, behind
The words I'll never find
And I'm left behind
As seasons roll on by

Well I wanna fly above the storm
But you can't grow feathers in the rain
And the naked floor is cold as hell
The naked floor reminds me
Oh the naked floor reminds me

That I'm lost, behind
In the words I'll never find
And I'm left behind
As seasons roll on by

If I should be short on words
And long on things to say
Could you crawl into my world
And take these words away?
Should I be beside myself
Would you even stay?

And I'm lost, behind
Words I'll never find
And I'm left behind
As seasons roll on by
