Re: Favorite Song Lyrics
Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more
Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion
I was soaring ever higher
But I flew too high
Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think I still was a mad man
I hear the voices when I'm dreaming
I can hear them say
Masquerading as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man, well
It surely means that I don't know
On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about I'm like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune
But I hear the voices say
No!
Carry on, you will always remember
Carry on, nothing equals the splendor
The center lights around your vanity
But surely heaven waits for you
Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry (don't you cry no more)

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics
He Didn't Have to Be, Brad Paisley
When a single mom goes out on a date with somebody new
It always winds up feeling more like a job interview
My momma used to wonder if she'd ever meet someone
Who wouldn't find out about me and then turn around and run
I met the man I call my dad when I was five years old
He took my mom out to a movie and for once I got to go
A few months later I remember lying there in bed
I overheard him pop the question and prayed that she'd say yes
And then all of a sudden
Oh, it seemed so strange to me
How we went from something's missing
To a family
Lookin' back all I can say
About all the things he did for me
Is I hope I'm at least half the dad
That he didn't have to be
I met the girl that's now my wife about three years ago
We had the perfect marriage but we wanted somethin' more
Now here I stand surrounded by our family and friends
Crowded 'round the nursery window as they bring the baby in
And now all of a sudden
It seemed so strange to me
How we've gone from something's missing
To a family
Lookin' through the glass I think about the man
That's standin' next to me
And I hope I'm at least half the dad
That he didn't have to be
Lookin' back all I can say
About all the things he did for me
Is I hope I'm at least half the dad
That he didn't have to be
Yeah, I hope I'm at least half the dad
That he didn't have to be
Because he didn't have to be
You know he didn't have to be

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics
Devo
Whip It
Crack that whip
Give the past the slip
Step on a crack
Break your momma's back
When a problem comes along
You must whip it
Before the cream sits out too long
You must whip it
When something's going wrong
You must whip it
now whip it
into shape
shape it up
get straight
go forward
move ahead
try to detect it
it's not too late
to whip it
whip it good
When a good time turns around
You must whip it
You will never live it down
Unless you whip it
No one gets their way
Until they whip it
I say whip it
Whip it good

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics
the lyrics to Numb by Lincon park. As the mother of two teenage boys and one coming up to teenagerish age, this song really spoke to me. Re: Favorite Song Lyrics
Old Days by Chicago
Old days
Good times I remember
Fun days
Filled with simple pleasures
Drive-in movies
Comic books and blue jeans
Howdy Doody
Baseball cards and birthdays
Take me back
To a world gone away
Memories
Seem like yesterday
Old days
Good times I remember
Gold days
Days I'll always treasure
Funny faces
Full of love and laughter
Funny places
Summer nights and streetcars
Take me back
To a world gone away
Boyhood memories
Seem like yesterday
Old days - in my mind and in my heart to stay
Old days - darkened dreams of good times gone away
Old days - days of love and feeling fancy free
Old days - days of magic still so close to me
Old days - in my mind and in my heart to stay
Old days - darkened dreams of good times gone away
Old days - days of love and feeling fancy free
Old days - days of magic still so close to me
Calypso by John Denver
To sail on a dream on a crystal clear ocean
To ride on the crest of a wild raging storm
To work in the service of life and the living
In search of the answers to questions unknown
To be part of the movement and part of the growing
Part of beginning to understand
Aye, Calypso, the places you've been to
The things that you've shown us
The stories you tell
Aye, Calypso, I sing to your spirit
The men who have served you
So long and so well
Like the dolphin who guides you
You bring us beside you
To light up the darkness and show us the way
For though we are strangers in your silent world
To live on the land we must learn from the sea
To be true as the tide
And free as the wind-swell
Joyful and loving in letting it be
Aye, Calypso, the places you've been to
The things that you've shown us
The stories you tell
Aye, Calypso, I sing to your spirit
The men who have served you
So long and so well
Aye, Calypso, the places you've been to
The things that you've shown us
The stories you tell
Aye, Calypso, I sing to your spirit
The men who have served you
So long and so well

Kinks - Sunny Afternoon.....
The tax mans taken all my dough,
And left me in my stately home,
Lazing on a sunny afternoon.
And I cant sail my yacht,
Hes taken everything Ive got,
All Ive gots this sunny afternoon.
Save me, save me, save me from this squeeze.
I got a big fat mama trying to break me.
And I love to live so pleasantly,
Live this life of luxury,
Lazing on a sunny afternoon.
In the summertime
In the summertime
In the summertime
My girlfriends run off with my car,
And gone back to her ma and pa,
Telling tales of drunkenness and cruelty.
Now Im sitting here,
Sipping at my ice cold beer,
Lazing on a sunny afternoon.
Help me, help me, help me sail away,
Well give me two good reasons why I oughta stay.
cause I love to live so pleasantly,
Live this life of luxury,
Lazing on a sunny afternoon.
In the summertime
In the summertime
In the summertime
Ah, save me, save me, save me from this squeeze.
I got a big fat mama trying to break me.
And I love to live so pleasantly,
Live this life of luxury,
Lazing on a sunny afternoon.
In the summertime
In the summertime
In the summertime

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics
NINE INCH NAILS
"In This Twilight"
Watch the sun,
As it crawls across a final time
And it feels like,
Like it was a friend.
It is watching us,
And the world we set on fire
Do you wonder,
If it feels the same?
And the sky is filled with light
Can you see it?
All the black is really white
If you believe it
As your time is running out
Let me take away your doubt
You can find a better a place
In this twilight
Dust to dust,
Ashes in your hair remind me
What it feels like
And I won't feel again
Night descends
Could I have been a better person
If I could only do it all again
And the sky is filled with light
Can you see it?
All the black is really white
If you believe it
And the longing that you feel
You know none of this is real
You will find a better a place
In this twilight

Hi, 17th........ do you know how finely tuned you are......
The 13th of August and a monday it was, and an invite to a castle in Bordeaux, France, a few days away summer vacation, you know I'm a person of the present, but they were dishing out the past like it had no tomorrow, it was turrets, ramparts and all. It was as dark as the ace of spades and the sun was on retreat. There were rooms upon rooms of empty rooms, the windows closed to keep out the birds by day and the bats by night. and you know I live in the light, but this was gothic dark. There was a courtyard with walls as high as the rock of ages, a great door leading to a room filled with more candles than you have ever seen in one place at one time, a huge log burning in a massive grate fire arena. And the air was green....... this is not a good thing for one who lives in the domain of blueness.
And you i'm sure would have felt perfectly at home
But after two nights of sleeping, not sleeping, in green slime........we sailed away.
And left big mama where she belonged.
Crazy times, and oh, how I love to live a life of simple luxury.
When you return you choose a song for your vacation.
love - c -

Hi c...
Red sky at morning, sailor's warning
Red sky at night, sailor's delight
Your time in the castles of France sounds inspiring and edifying, except for the green slime thingy.
Yes...blue, definitely your hue.

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics
Hi, Flow,
'twas just one castle....... though they appear to be two a penny over there.
And was it really so black........ maybe a hint of white light, maybe all it needed to lighten the darkness.

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics
Snow Patrol - Open your eyes......
All this feels strange and untrue.
And I won't waste a minute without you.....
My bones ache, my skin feels cold.
And I'm getting so tired and so old......
The anger swells in my guts,
And I won't feel these slices and cuts....
I want so much, to open your eyes,
Cos I need you to look into mine......
Tell me, that you'll open your, eyes!!!!! [x4]
Get up, get out, get away from these liars!!
Cos they don't get your soul or your fire...
Take my hand, knot your fingers through mine!
And we'll walk from this dark room for the last time!!!!
Every minute from this minute now...
We can do what we like anywhere!
I want so much to open your eyes...
Cos I need you to look into mine.
Tell me that you'll open your eyes [x8]
All this feels strange and untrue.
And I won't waste a minute without you..............................
