Re: Favorite Song Lyrics

No Idea who sings this... It's a punk version, I have it on my MP3 player... But, It has the wrong artist and title.. lol

Listen, children, to a story that was written long ago,
'Bout a kingdom on a mountain and the valley-folk below.

On the mountain was a treasure buried deep beneath the stone,
And the valley-people swore they'd have it for their very own.

Go ahead and hate your neighbor, go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven, you can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after.... one tin soldier rides away.

So the people of the valley sent a message up the hill,
Asking for the buried treasure, tons of gold for which they'd kill.

Came an answer from the kingdom, "With our brothers we will share
All the secrets of our mountain, All the riches buried there."

Go ahead and hate your neighbor, go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven, you can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after.... One tin soldier rides away.

Now the valley cried with anger, "Mount your horses! Draw your sword!"
And they killed the mountain-people, so they won their just reward.

Now they stood beside the treasure, on the mountain, dark and red.
Turned the stone and looked beneath it... "Peace on Earth" was all it said.

Go ahead and hate your neighbor, go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven, you can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after.... One tin soldier rides away.

Go ahead and hate your neighbor, go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven, you can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after.... One tin soldier rides away.

[Also this is just a morale right lol? This has no history based on it?]

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics

Scott McKenzie - San Francisco. [Freaking love this song.. Like the dance version too.]

If you're going to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If you're going to San Francisco
You're gonna meet some gentle people there

For those who come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there
In the streets of San Francisco
Gentle people with flowers in their hair

All across the nation such a strange vibration
People in motion
There's a whole generation with a new explanation
People in motion people in motion

For those who come to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If you come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there

If you come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics

The version of the song I'm most familiar with is One Tin Soldier by Coven. I don't know covered the punk version, but here's more info on Wiki.

This was also the theme to the movie Billy Jack. Cool song!

Undertaker - Dead Man..

Dead man walkin
You've done it now
You've gone and made a big mistake
and I can't allow, you to think you can just walk away
so turn around, and face the piper you're gonna pay
'cause the end is now
this is gonna be your judgement day
A cheap shot
that's the way that you play the game
I was blindsided, things will never ever be the same
nice guys, it's said they always finish last
but bad-a**es, always kicking a**hole's a**
kick it
You're gonna Pay, You're Gonna Pay
there's no forgiveness this time
You're gonna Pay, You're Gonna Pay
It's my business, your mind
You're gonna Pay, You're Gonna Pay
I'm burning these ones to the ground
You're gonna Pay, You're Gonna Pay
I'm gonna Bring you down
You're gonna Pay, You're Gonna Pay
You're gonna Pay, You're Gonna Pay
No more chances,
No more excuses, no lies
your stories ending, time to say your goodbyes
nice guys, it's said they always finish last
but bad-a**es, are always kicking asshole's a**
a**hole,
kick it
kick it
You're gonna Pay, You're Gonna Pay
there's no forgiveness this time
You're gonna Pay, You're Gonna Pay
It's my business, your mind
You're gonna Pay, You're Gonna Pay
I'm burning these ones to the ground
You're gonna Pay, You're Gonna Pay
I'm gonna Bring you down

You're gonna Pay, You're Gonna Pay
You're gonna Pay, You're Gonna Pay

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics

All I Know
(Jimmy Webb)

I bruise you, you bruise me,
We both bruise too easily, too easily to let it show,
I love you and that’s all I know.

All my plans are fallin’ through,
All my plans depend on you, depend on you to help them grow,
I love you and that’s all I know.

When the singer's gone let the song go on...

But the ending always comes at last,
Endings always come too fast,
They come too fast, but they pass too slow,
I love you and that’s all I know.

When the singer’s gone let the song go on,
It’s a fine line between the darkness and the dawn.
They say in the darkest night there’s a light beyond.

But the ending always comes at last,
Endings always come too fast,
They come too fast but they pass too slow,
I love you, and that’s all I know.
That’s all I know, that’s all I know.

Brisk&Ham - Angel Eyez.

Angel angel angel (repeat)
Ladies and gentlemen
I'm here to stay

Last night as I lay dreaming
This strangest kind of feeling
Reveal this secret meaning
And now I knowI never been to paradise
I never ever seen no angels' eyes
I never ever met this magic guy
No matter where you areYou got a lucky sign(repeat)

Ladies and gentlemen
I'm here to sayWe can startIn the meanwhile
Get ready to explodeFeel thisLose control
Ladies and gentlemen
Here we goLast night as I lay dreaming
This strangest kind of feelingReveal this secret meaning
And now I knowI never been to paradise
I never ever seen no angels' eyes
I never ever met this magic guy
No matter where you areYou got a lucky sign
Oh now I knowI never been to paradise
I never ever seen no angels' eyes
I never ever met this magic guy
No matter where you areYou got a lucky sign(repeat)
Here we go
I'm your DJ

Stephen Foster.... OH Susanna!!!
I come from Alabama with my banjo on my knee;
I'm goin' to Lou'siana my true love for to see.
It rained all night the day I left,
the weather it was dry;
The sun so hot I froze to death,
Susanna don't you cry.

Oh! Susanna, don't you cry for me;
I come from Alabama,
with my banjo on my knee.

I had a dream the other night,
When everything was still;
I thought I saw Susanna dear,
A-coming down the hill.
The buckwheat cake was in her mouth,
The tear was in her eye,
Said I, I'm coming from the south,
Susanna don't you cry.

Oh! Susanna, don't you cry for me;
I come from Alabama,
with my banjo on my knee.

I soon will be in New Orleans,
And then I'll look all 'round,
And when I find Susanna,
I'll fall upon the ground.
But if I do not find her,
This darkey'll surely die,
And when I'm dead and buried,
Susanna don't you cry.

Oh! Susanna, don't you cry for me;
I come from Alabama,
with my banjo on my knee.

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics

James Blunt.... (:X Careful! I'll do the jokes!!) - Cry...

I have seen peace. I have seen pain,
Resting on the shoulders of your name.
Do you see the truth through all their lies?
Do you see the world through troubled eyes?
And if you want to talk about it anymore,
Lie here on the floor and cry on my shoulder,
I'm a friend.

I have seen birth. I have seen death.
Lived to see a lover's final breath.
Do you see my guilt? Should I feel fright?
Is the fire of hesitation burning bright?
And if you want to talk about it once again,
On you I depend. I'll cry on your shoulder.
You're a friend.

You and I have lived through many things.
I'll hold on to your heart.
I wouldn't cry for anything,
But don't go tearing your life apart.

I have seen fear. I have seen faith.
Seen the look of anger on your face.
And if you want to talk about what will be,
Come and sit with me, and cry on my shoulder,
I'm a friend.

And if you want to talk about it anymore,
Lie here on the floor and cry on my shoulder, once again.
Cry on my shoulder....
.................I'm a friend.

Some of my favorite lyrics

Higher by Creed
When dreaming I'm guided to another world
Time and time again
At sunrise I fight to stay asleep
'Cause I don't want to leave the comfort of this place
'Cause there's a hunger, a longing to escape
From the life I live when I'm awake
So let's go there
Let's make our escape
Come on, let's go there
Let's ask can we stay?

Can you take me Higher?
To a place where blind men see
Can you take me Higher?
To a place with golden streets

People Everyday by Arrested Development
See I was resting at the park minding my own
business as I kick up the treble tone
on my radio tape player box, right
just loud enough so folks could hear it's hype, see ?
Outta nowhere comes the woman I'm dating
investigation maybe she was demonstrating
But nevertheless I was pleased
My day was going great and my soul was at ease
until a group of brothers started bugging out
drinking the 40 oz, going the nigga route
Disrespecting my black queen
holding their crotches and being obscene
At first I ignored them cause see I know their type
They got drunk and got guns and they wanna fight
and they see a young couple having a time that's good
and their egos wanna test a brother's manhood
So they came to test Speech cause of my hair-do
and the loud bright colors that I wear [Boo !]
I was a target cause I'm a fashion misfit
and the outfit that I'm wearing brothers dissing it
Well I stay calm and pray the niggaz leave me be
but they're squeezing parts of my date's anatomy
Why, Lord, do brothers have to drill me ?
Cause if I start to hit this man they'll have to kill me

[CHORUS:]
I am everyday people (2x)

I told the niggaz please let us pass, friend
I said please cause I don't like killing Africans
but he wouldn't stop and I ain't Ice Cube
but I had to take the brother out for being rude
and like I said before I was mad by then
It took three or four cops to pull me off of him
But that's the story y'all of a black man
acting like a nigga and get stomped by an African

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics

Banquet
(Joni Mitchell)

Come to the dinner gong
The table is laden high
Fat bellies and hungry little ones
Tuck your napkins in
And take your share
Some get the gravy
And some get the gristle
Some get the marrow bone
And some get nothing
Though there's plenty to spare

I took my share down by the sea
Paper plates and Javex bottles on the tide
Seagulls come down and they squawk at me
Down where the water skiers glide

Some turn to Jesus
And some turn to heroin
Some turn to rambling round
Looking for a clean sky
And a drinking stream
Some watch the paint peel off
Some watch their kids grow up
Some watch their stocks and bonds
Waiting for that big deal American Dream

I took my dream down by the sea
Yankee yachts and lobster pots and sunshine
And logs and sails
And Shell Oil pails
Dogs and tugs and summertime
Back in the banquet line
Angry young people crying

Who let the greedy in
And who left the needy out
Who made this salty soup
Tell him we're very hungry now
For a sweeter fare
In the cookie I read
"Some get the gravy
And some get the gristle
Some get the marrow bone
And some get nothing
Though there's plenty to spare"

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics

(Guess I'm in a Mitchell mood this morning )

Barangrill
(Joni Mitchell)

Three waitresses all wearing
Black diamond earrings
Talking about zombies
and Singapore slings
No trouble in their faces
Not one anxious voice
None of the crazy you get
From too much choice
The thumb and the satchel
Or the rented Rolls-Royce
And you think she knows something
By the second refill
You think she's enlightened
As she totals your bill
You say "show me the way
To Barangrill"

Well some say it's in service
They say "humble makes pure"
You're hoping it's near Folly
'Cause you're headed that way for sure
And you just have to laugh
'Cause it's all so crazy
Her mind's on her boyfriend
And eggs over easy
It's just a trick on you
Her mirrors and your will
So you ask the truck driver
On the way to the till
But he's just a slave
To Barangrill

The guy at the gaspumps
He's got a lot of soul
He sings Merry Christmas for you
Just like Nat King Cole
And he makes up his own tune
Right on the spot
About whitewalls and windshields
And this job he's got
And you want to get moving
And you want to stay still
But lost in the moment
Some longing gets filled
And you even forget to ask
"Hey, Where's Barangrill?"

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics

Right in Two by Tool

Angels on the sideline,
Puzzled and amused.
Why did Father give these humans free will?
Now they're all confused.
Don't these talking monkeys know that
Eden has enough to go around?
Plenty in this holy garden, silly monkeys,
Where there's one you're bound to divide it.
Right in two.
Angels on the sideline,
Baffled and confused.
Father blessed them all with reason.
And this is what they choose.
And this is what they choose...
Monkey killing monkey killing monkey
Over pieces of the ground.
Silly monkeys give them thumbs,
They forge a blade,
And where there's one
they're bound to divide it,
Right in two.
Right in two.
Monkey killing monkey killing monkey.
Over pieces of the ground.
Silly monkeys give them thumbs.
They make a club.
And beat their brother, down.
How they survive so misguided is a mystery.
Repugnant is a creature who would squander
the ability to lift an eye to heaven,
conscious of his fleeting time here.
Cut it all right in two
Cut it all right in two
Cut it all right in two
Cut it all right in two
Fight over the clouds, over earth, over canyon
They fight for our love, for our blood, over heaven,
Fight over love, over sun,
over nothing, they fight till they die,
and for what? For their lives ending.
Angels on the sideline again.
Benched along with patience and reason.
Angels on the sideline again
Wondering when this tug of war will end.
Cut it all right in two
Cut it all right in two
Cut it all right in two
RIGHT IN TWO!
Right in two...

17th, you need to find/hear the original version of this song, bro. POWERFUL!!! It makes all sorts of endorphins and testosterone and tear-ducts fire when I hear it. Yes, I have physiological response to music--what of it??! It's a blessing, actually.

Here's my offering for the day:

Carry On by The Samples

Trusting is one thing I don't know
When it comes to the campaigning men
But I'll meet you at the election
When I vote for the hope of this land

Carry on
Carry on

Just take a good look around you
The ghettos begin at your feet
And there's a family of six through a window
Looking way down at you on the street

Carry on
Carry on

Send us in any direction
Airports, buses and cabs
But somehow through all this confusion
We lose things that we've never had

Carry on
Carry on

A funeral was held in the winter
The old lady pulls from her purse
A thousand tears on a napkin
While waving away at the hearse

Carry on
Carry on

Trusting is one thing I don't know
When it comes to the campaigning men
But I'll meet you at the election
When I vote for the hope of this land

Carry on
Carry on

Re: Favorite Song Lyrics

Goodnight Saigon
------Billy Joel
We met as soul mates on Parris Island
We left as inmates from an asylum
And we were sharp, as sharp as knives
And we were so gung ho to lay down our lives

We came in spastic like tameless horses
We left in plastic as numbered corpses
And we learned fast to travel light
Our arms were heavy but our bellies were tight

We had no home front, we had no soft soap
They sent us Playboy, they gave us Bob Hope
We dug in deep and shot on sight
And prayed to Jesus Christ with all our might

We had no cameras to shoot the landscape
We passed the hash pipe and played our Doors tapes
And it was dark, so dark at night
And we held on to each other
Like brother to brother
We promised our mothers we'd write

And we would all go down together
We said we'd all go down together
Yes we would all go down together

Remember Charlie, remember Baker
They left their childhood on every acre
And who was wrong? And who was right?
It didn't matter in the thick of the fight

We held the day in the palm of our hand
They ruled the night, and the night
Seemed to last as long as six weeks...

...On Parris Island
We held the coastline, they held the highlands
And they were sharp, as sharp as knives
They heard the hum of our motors
They counted the rotors
And waited for us to arrive

And we would all go down together
We said we'd all go down together
Yes we would all go down together

************************************************** *****

I just don't know what to say (Vietnam was the war of my childhood [I was born the year that LBJ sent the first major batch of American troups, and I was 10 when the last of them pulled out.)
