greetings
Hi all,
I stumbled on this site and you seem like a nice crowd. I am from a Catholic background, with a sprinkling of Evangelical Christianity (my parents converted when I was a teen and they are still, 25 years later). I have had an interest in Religion and spirituality, but I don't like to label anything as I have been badly tainted by my early indoctrination. I have found Athiesm to be too negative, yet value its questioning of Religious beliefs.
I have read around everything (not expertly and certainly not everything) from Kabbalah, Tarot, Gnosticism, Taoism, Buddhism, Quantum physics.
cheers

Re: greetings
Hi, Ardenz, and welcome to the Forum.
I, too, was a Catholic as a child, and I quicky became dissatisfied with it. I did a lot of searching over the years, and I finally found something that works for me. I hope you can find something that works for you.
My travels took me far and wide across the religious spectrum. (Yes, I still have my tarot card set.)
You said, "...I have been badly tainted by my early indoctrination." --> Feel free to share your experiences. You may find other people here have had similar experiences. "I have found Athiesm to be too negative, yet value its questioning of Religious beliefs." --> First and foremost, I feel that a critical and questioning mind is the most important possestion, when a person sets out on a path to a meaningful belief system. Please ask critical-thinking questions. The more the better! (Fundamentalists tend to be unhappy with me....)
One more thing: people other than Aetheists can question religious beliefs! (I highly recommened everyone try it.) "I have read around everything (not expertly and certainly not everything) from Kabbalah, Tarot, Gnosticism, Taoism, Buddhism, Quantum physics." --> Most people do not take responsibility for their belief system. You are taking responsibility for yours. Good for you!

Welcome to CR, ardenz!
I know what you mean about "labels". They certainly can get in the way, sometimes, can't they?
I look forward to your participation in the forums.

well its not like that any more ! central heating has been here a while, and the latest Merc or BMW is the thing to have. There is still the magical - away from the motorways and new bungalows.
Anyway hi again
