Hate Crimes

"Hate crime" is a version of thoughtcrime. If any crimes of violence are so heinous as to deserve extra sentencing, simply raise the sentencing requirements on all crimes of violence, thereby capturing any potential "bad" motives.

Is it a "love crime" to commit murder for money? Murder is murder, assault is assault. Jack up the sentence for all murders and assaults, not just some of them.

Using the threat of violence implicit in criminal prosecution based upon thought or opinion is something that only someone like the Gang of Four could approve of.

Hate crime, is a term I never use as it is full of carp....

White man punches another white man because he made some comment about his face.....

This is a crime... This is also a hate crime...

However a White man punches some black man, for say same thing.

That is tagged as a hate crime... But, it's the same damn crime... I don't understand, sorry does he deserve "special treatment"??? If so please explain why he deserves to get more years for his justice...

But ok I am understanding what we're saying here... Hai! you want to go kill, rape, attack someone, sure fill your boots, but, you better make damn sure that the victim(s) are the same colour as you!!! lulz... plz, kthx.

Motivation is taken into account in sentencing. Someone who represents a continuing threat to a large number of people is more dangerous than someone with a particular argument with one person.

But how can you tell? If a man of different colour/tone/religion/something that makes him apart of a different "group" which ever label he holds... He puts me in a situation where I have to defend myself, I'll lamp him out.....

Will my actions be seen as a hate crime? Just asking is all not getting "funny" yew knew... How can they justify it too? I say nah he just did X to me..... Which I guess all defendants would... How can they then deduce I will do it or won't do it again just "cause"

Courts have to make such determinations all the time-- imperfectly, of course, but they do. People who kill somebody by accident are not punished the same as those who kill intentionally: how can you tell?
