I find this "a breath of fresh air" BBC NEWS | Europe | Pope urges fight against racism Things like this will help squeeze out, little by little the discolor that resides in some of the hearts, in at least one group of folks.

I agree it is swept under the rug.
Only problem with the pope is, it is all about politics and people do not listen to them any more because that religion has no room to talk.

Re: Hatred In Religion - with Video Footage
I am very aware that religous hatred is real. It is not however limited to religous people. Atheists I have meet at times have very strong feeling of hate towards religous people. Believe me as an lds missionary for two years I had three atheists that came up and spit in my face and told me to have my god do something about it. That being said I cannot and will not stereotype atheists as hated filled monsters. I think a lot it comes down to justification. I have heard a quote that says an evil person never knows he is evil. And I think an easy way to justify evil action is by convincing yourself that you are doing gods will. I have studied many of the prominent mass murders such as Stalin, Hitler, and Pol pot. All of them believed they were doing a good thing. Some used religon others used a Philosophy. And some preyed on existing racial and religious prejudice. I think tolerance has to be the key. People need to look for the good in all religions and stop wasting so much time and money bashing others for their beliefs. People need to stop being judgmental and avoid stereotypes at all costs. Also people need to realize that humans are not perfect and will make mistakes and must be willing to forgive one another. I know I sound very idealistic and these things will probably never happen but all I can do is hope. Hope that soon humanity will wake up and realize that all this hate needs to go. Its a sad lesson that we as a people have never been able to learn.

Why must it go? Wouldn't you just be taking the fun and satisfactions out of life? If it were wanted, don't you think people would be spending their money on how to change. But if you look at what we call the "arts" it is obvious that we really want is to continue as it is. Are you suggesting these people are wrong to feel this way?

"arts" = modern relativism, again, D.R. Hawkins says that this is contra productive to evolution (I heard in his most recent book he speaks about it). Why do people think they do "good" when doing "bad"? We all act according to our Level of Consciousness, according to our energy-field we are in (or according to the "reality" we perceive from our view-point! the higher the Level of Consciousness, the more we perceive "context", as a photo taken from a higher level includes more things than a photo taken from a low level). The only thing to evolve, is to constantly leave all to His Will and let go of the thought to be able to control the "out-there". It is only ourselves we can change, if ever.

You may appreciate this book by Prof. Needleman: Why Can't We be Good."
Amazon.com: Why Can't We Be Good?: Jacob Needleman: Books
He gives a talk on it here:
FORA.tv - Why Can't We Be Good?
He provides an insight into perspective you may appreciate.

OK, so now you are perfectly able distinguish between nationalist hatred and violence vs. religion, but in the case of Judaism they are somehow inseparable?
Have you read the Prophets of the OT?

Re: Hatred In Religion - with Video Footage
DT Suzuki validated violence and backed it with Buddhist philosophy. Other Buddhist teachers did too.
Dark Zen - Zen Holy War?
But I think Luna hit the nail on the head in post 54.
