Homage to the Seven Past Buddhas

Who are the seven past Buddhas? Theravada monks in Thailand chant about the seven buddhas in the evening, and I cannot find any information about them. Thank you.

Namo Tassa Bhagavato Arahato Samma Sammbudhassa.

Re: Homage to the Seven Past Buddhas

they have names, but can' remember what they are... each kalpa has a new buddha, and so, before buddha, there were buddhas before... I think, its the basic idea..

Re: Homage to the Seven Past Buddhas

Josh,

I have not heard of them personally, but here is something I found:

Buddha & Tathagata (Jp. = Nyorai) - Japanese Buddhism & Shintoism Photo Dictionary, Buddha Statues Directory

Look about one-third of the way down the page, and you will see a list called Seven Buddhas of the Past.
