What use would it be to tell someone who is angry about this or that American action, "Oh, just read our Constitution if you want to know what America really is, don't pay attention to what Bush does"?

The point is that I (and I am far from alone) get really sick and tired of Muslims responding to these problems by saying in effect, no it's not really a problem.

I have never said it is not a problem, quite the opposite. However when I discuss the problems the US are causing around the world I don't bash your constitution, I bash the people that make daft decisions.

I accept that some people choose to interpret the Quran in oppressive ways but the same can easily be done with any religious book if that is your mind set. Likewise it can and should be interpreted in a peaceful way, any book that says if you kill one person unlawfully it is the same as killing all of mankind should only be interpreted as peaceful.

In the same way that Islam bashers choose a verse or two of the Quran to demonstrate how violent it is, the extremists do the same thing to justify their actions but taken as a whole (as the Quran should be read) it allows no such thing.

Sad, yes... Uncommon? Not by far... Every religion gets bad representation and examples, islam isn't the only religion that gets an exclusive on "this guy says he is from this path of religion look how bad he is! They're all like this!!!" Just Islam is in the lime light for a decade or so It will go onto another religion... It always does.

So I fail to see why one should be embarassed by anothers actions :/ Keep being a shiny sparkley representative of your god and you have nothing to be shamed by.
