Re: Keys to the Kingdom
I tend to give a pessimistic view of Michigan because I have not been happy here (I am not a very happy person by native temperament in any case, and recent years have not been kind to me). You might find that others would give a much more positive impression, and if you came here you could find, as anyone can find anywhere, lots of quite congenial people to hang out with.

Re: Keys to the Kingdom
I feel sure bob that Michigan is like everywhere else on the planet (inhabited by humans), there are good and bad people, good and bad habits.
So if you could move from Michigan, to anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Unless I'm mistaken, there's a town west of Detroit city named...Hell, Michigan.

Re: Keys to the Kingdom
Hee, hee a town called Hell - good one!!
I used to live in a place called Gravesend, I though that was bad enough. Imagine going on holiday and someone asking you where you come from and you reply "Hell" - you would have to practice the deep voice and spooky eyes.

Re: Keys to the Kingdom
I've been through Hell-- not a bad place. They had a big festival on June 6, 2006 ("6/6/6") and always have parties on Halloween. They sell T-shirts "Where in the Heck is Hell, Michigan?"
I'm not sure exactly where I'd move, if I had my druthers. I liked it in Pittsburgh, I liked it in California, I liked England; I've liked most places I've been better than the area I have ended up.

Well I have never been tempted to visit the US until now, it would be great to say I have been to hell and back, without telling a fib!!

That is a shame, it must be very difficult to live somewhere you are not happy. I shall keep my fingers crossed that you get the opportunity to move somewhere you are happier soon.
Erm, what are druthers?
