Looking for a quote on Thomas Merton

I hope this does not interrupt anyone, but I am a loss and need some help. I am trying to find where the following quote from Thomas Merton was taken "Time is given us not to keep the faith we once had but to acquire the faith we need now." Does anyone know?

Sorry to disappoint you but I am not familiar with the quote. Possibly it is not from any of his books as such, perhaps from one of the journals Merton kept all his life (published in seven volumes).............or even from one of his many letters (published in five volumes)

Anyway, thanks for the quote..............maybe there are far too many people in this world wasting their time! (Yet how much of "our" faith that we "aquire" is given to us in spite of ourselves, in spite of our attempt to "keep" only what we know and think that we seek? Possibly it is only grace that reveals just what it is we "need now"................despite our best efforts to avoid it!)
