must all things come to an end?
must all things come to an end?
that is everything you can possibly think of, the universe, all universes, existence itself, god [if you think he is in any way], you, the soul, mind, nirvan, the beyond nirvana thingy ...
even infinity only 'exists' because it is comparative to existence.
basically must all states end?
...and what then is it, that is at the end of all things?

Beginnings require endings, and vice versa.

What can we do to stop it? Death comes to everyone. Hopefully there is Something on the other side. Unfortunately, we won't know for sure until we are gone.

Are you asking Us , Z?
or putting this out to the great oracle?
does it end? or was it always there?
"to be or not to be, that is the question"

Re: must all things come to an end?
This existence as we know it ends...
it just did.
and a new one began...and it ended.
but in oneness nothing ends...it all is and still is.
it doesn't end it changes...that skin cell just died, but it is still there protecting the new ones underneath it...another slides off and becomes part of something else.
the cow on your table...was its death an end? then what are you eating?? And where is it going?
Is it an end or an evolution...

I think we fail to comprehend its full definition.
I don't agree everything comes to an end, I agree with a notion that everything mutates for the better.

ha ha, you got me sussed! of course i am asking the great oracle as i believe it is the end state. equally it is like a whisper within us all, thus by asking you i am asking it. thoughts will arise in your mind, some of which emanate from your epicentre of mind and some from the eternal. i am after both actually.

interesting and profound as ever wil, but now ask yourself this; how can true oneness actually be arrived at [found]? can you have it while there are other things of any description whatsoever! surely then, the ‘onestate’ is the same as ‘the end state’ i.e. stateless.

aren’t beginnings and endings a function of cycles? we could think of cycles as like an eternal ring where upon each return a new ring is formed. however, how many times can one repeat a thing until we reach infinity; answer = you can repeat as many times as you wish without ever getting any closer to forever [infinity]. bearing this in mind wouldn’t you say that the end of all things would then be ‘built into’ the universe and existence.
i see the entirety of existence as like a single clap of the hands. billions of years may seam like a long time to us, but to time itself it is but a moment.

haha, nice one tao! i would venture to say that it is the exact opposite that i am doing, and indeed that very thing that arguments against are!

i think it does too! infinity cannot ever actually be itself, and when it is it ceases to exist [becomes the end state?].
I agree with a notion that everything mutates for the better
is oneness not the ultimate example of this? and that to wit all things move and evolve towards!

Re: must all things come to an end?
heeeeeeck no! heck no! they won't end. they won't end because we don't even know where we began (well at least i know! ) so who are we as man to say that things will end if we don't know where we started? science can't even explain for certainty how the universe began. all they have are "theories".

is it comparable to anything we know? [not that we know sleep all that well].

Hi ZZZZZ,
There's sleep and dreamless sleep. Some call it Brahmaloka.
Yoga-Nidra (divine slumber)
Just punch pralaya and "cosmic sleep" into Google. Pralaya is cosmic dissolution. The period of manifestation is called Manvantara.
Good Night,
Br.Bruce
When the carpet of time is rolled up and away once more, some are taken with it, whilst some may remain in the bosom of our universe. Creation herself withstands and remains, for she and her Nature are inherent to the Truth. Some designs require a little working on! "Not enough Time" they cry - out comes the carpet again. Her helpers pick through to find the lost jewels - and recover them they might: Lost worlds and lost souls, as gnats, as fireflies.

Re: must all things come to an end?
hi bruce
from wiki...
Pralaya; in Hindu cosmology , is a period of time of the cycle of existence of the planets where activity does not occur. It lasts, according to computations of the Brahmans, 4,320,000,000 years. The period of activity, Manvantara, has the same duration.
interesting notion. the only problem is that it refers to cyclic events - that of activity and inactivity, each which lasts a set amount of time. at the end of ‘all’ things, there would be no cycles. the pralaya would necessarily have internal functions especially of time, by which it is limited in duration and is connected to manvabtara, again such things would not occur - there would only be a lack of everything. time especially would not exist nor would have ever existed once you arrive at the end state!
history ultimately does not exist.
