Re: Ouiji Boards?
[quote=enlightenment;128851]Anyway, Mee, if your god exists, don't you seem him as like the ultimate terrorist?
What can be more terrorist in manner than to say to someone, believe this or burn in hell.....forever?
/quote] the God of the bible doesnt burn people in hellfire for ever , it seems you have been listening to innacurate teaching of the bible , finding out what the bible REALLY teaches is the way to go . the question is ,WHAT IS HELL?
Unending Torment or Common Grave, knowing the right answer changes many wrong thoughts about the bible and what it teaches.

Re: Ouiji Boards?
If anyone is to talk with the dead, the deceased must actually be alive. They must have immortal souls. Yet the Bible says: “Jehovah God proceeded to form the man out of dust from the ground and to blow into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man came to be a living soul.” (Genesis 2:7) Therefore, the person himself is a soul. He does not have an immortal soul that lives on after the death of the body. In fact, the Scriptures say: “The soul that is sinning—it itself will die.” (Ezekiel 18:4) Moreover, God’s Word says: “The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all . . . There is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol,” mankind’s common grave.—Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10.

That seems awfully contradictory, Mee. If there are spirits of the dead (whether they are able to speak to the living through something like the Ouija or not) then clearly something of them survives death.
From your Bible-inerrantist perspective, are these spirits of the dead real or not? The quotes you've given and the statements you just made seem to attempt to prove both that they exist and that they do not exist.

Re: Ouiji Boards?
For those who are interested, there is an interesting website at Web Ouija that provides a bit of history and further discussion about Ouija or "talking boards." They have a neat gallery showing different boards as sold over the years, starting with the one that began it all in 1891.

There is a collection of 66 “letters” or writings inspired and provided by the Creator that contain vital information and counsel for us all. That collection of inspired writings is: the Bible
it is the only book on earth that gives a clear account of man’s origin, why his present problems exist and what his future will be. The Bible is, unquestionably, unique.
The Bible’s historical account shows that after the creation in Eden of God’s first human son and daughter, Adam and Eve, a certain powerful angel, moved by vanity and ambition, rebelled against God. Using deception and appealing to selfishness, he succeeded in getting the first human pair to join him in his rebellion. Since he became the enemy of Jehovah, the Creator, he is called Satan, which in Hebrew means “resister”, or “adversary.” (Genesis 3:1-13; Revelation 12:9) He later induced other heavenly sons of God or angels to follow a similar course of rebellion.
Concerning the true condition of the dead, God’s Word says: “As for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:5) Can they express either affection or hatred for the living? Again the Bible answers: “Their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished . . . for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol [Hebrew word for the grave, the place to which the dead go].” (Ecclesiastes 9:6, 10) Confirming this, Psalm 146:4 says that man “goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts do perish.

Oh, I am well versed in the bible, Mee, don't you think it odd that many of the gospels are omitted, shall I list those which are not spoken of, because, well, because even they would seem to absurd to even the most religous religionist?

dead people are dead , but spirit creatures in opposition to God ( rebellious angels) are misleading people on earth by lying and pretending to be dead people . and it serves a purpose for Satan(rebellious angel) because it promotes the lie that we do not die . Satan is the one who instigated that first lie .(you will not die)

I thought the Christian teaching about death was that souls continue on, and that the worthy exist for an eternity in heaven?
If messages from invisible beings are invariably from evil spirits, then why should anyone put trust in prayer? How should we know the responses to prayer are not also evil spirits?
And if the responses to prayer are not evil spirits, then why should the responses that come through divination be assumed to be from evil spirits?

The other crap I don't get... (I understand it but don't -get- it there is a difference) Why bother? I don't believe there is anything at all good or bad out there... BUT for fun, let's say there is... This demonic fallen angel would... Pretend to be a dead human? to decieve you? I am sure you should give more credit than that... If I was an angel of the forsaken kind, I wouldn't bother with trying to pretend to be your dead grandmother... I'd pretend to be -your- god... Pray to Jah, and I will make sure you get what you pray for.... But, at a price

the teaching that you mention about souls continuing
on ,is not a bible teaching .It is a teaching that has made its way into many religions. But it is not a bible teaching and many have been misled by the teaching of .....THE IMMORTALITY OF THE HUMAN SOUL............. the bble teaches about the resurrection ,which is something completely different.

going on those boards is not praying, it is doing what God tells us not too.

the bible already tells us to do that ,(pray to Jehovah)so if he did that he would be inline with the true Gods purpose. so that would be out . getting people to believe lies would be more up his street. as he is an angel of light he makes it seem good when really it is nothing but lies . speaking to so called dead loved ones is something that appears to be good ,but it is an untruth along with the teaching of the IMMORTALITY OF THE HUMAN SOUL..............yes he really does have people in his power , many many have got to believe the lies of satan . but the bible tells us the right way to go . and it tells us the truth .
1 john 5;19 We know we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one.

If there is one thing I find about theists, esp those on message boards, Mee, it is that they are experts at one thing, and that is avoiding questions, direct questions, that have been asked of them.
What you have just written above, to use just one example, in no way is answers the actual question that I set you.
In life Mee, when someone habitually avoids pointed questions, what conclusions would you make of them doing that, as I think most of us would take such avoidance as fear of facing logical and rational questions.
It is natural, I suppose, that they must do so, if they are espouting a fairytale.
Ya know, Mee, there was a book that created a lot of fuss among Christians, esp Catholic hierarchy, and that book was called the Di Vinci Code.
You may have heard of it..?
Like most theists, they were 'offended' by it...
Yet, that book had nothing there to be offeneded over, it was a work of fiction, therefore, not worth being offended about.
The bible was a work of fiction, written by men, as well.
The only difference between the two books is the time line in which they were written.
One is recent fiction.
The other is ancient fiction.

This reminds me of the Pinocchio character in "Shrek 3" (which I just watched this weekend with the kids.) There's a scene where the bad guy has Pinocchio captured and is demanding to be told where Shrek has gone. Pinocchio gives a response that would have made many a lawyer beam with pride.
They have that particular clip (complete with subtitles) at this webpage.
It's funny in a movie but it really doesn't help in a real-life discussion.
