Indeed i do.

The fights I have had to have as an adult have all been self defence or defence of another. I understand what 17th means tho, the addrenalin highs of fighting are immense. Gang fights even more so. I was forced by my dad to take Aikido when i was about 14 but within a few lessons you could not have stopped me going. And there is a real pleasure in winning a fight without hitting or hurting your opponent. The dumb shock on their faces is always gratifying

I didn't call anyone a coward... I said it is freaking easier for a woman to back down from a fight as with males they have to be masculin..... Backing down doesn't show how manly a man you are.. Can you please keep your pathetic little topic to one thread? There is no need to ruine ANOTHER thread thanks....

Ok, but I have to say that there were many great women fighters as well. Unniyarcha is a famous kalaripayattu female martial artist in India who defeated many men in combat.

Hindu warriors pray to Durga , the goddess of war and victory for success in battle.

Just for the sake of information.

I think for a female, it maybe easier to back down or run away as you put it.

I am not saying that -all- women are not capable of being a soldier/fighter/whatever most are simply not suited to it, but indeed there are a -few- that have made a name for themselves..... Also I am talking of your average human not some ancient hero or mythical god...... Just your average john doe... A male will not find it as easy to back down from a fight.... Furthermore! Backing down from a fight doesn't make you a coward or a bad fighter....

yes, ur probably right, it is easier for me to bk down than it is for, say, my brother, and precisely for the reason u state- it is less acceptable for him to walk away than it is for me...

as for Durga- a prime example of egotism getting in the way...

Durga was a low caste girl, and there was a wedding in the villiage... she wasn't allowed to go to the wedding, as she was low caste, and she was enraged by this, and blew the wedding party to bits with a big bomb (at least, that's how I remember the tale)... when the wedding party were wailing and nashing their teeth, she was happy about it... and became the goddess of destruction!

now, of course, that kind of behaviour, whilst understandable, is not really what we expect from our gods, is it?

she was also responsible for the Thuggies, too...

fight, fight, fight away! Not to have to run away another day.... Yes we are in agreement..... That is how it is, average man almost finds it impossible to run away... I prefer to face my problems than run from them... One day sooner or later, I would have to deal with it, so save endurance and time...I hit the nail on the head first chance.

I have never looked at this board before and there are some great discussions going on. May I add my 10 pence worth. As you probably all know by now I have lived in the west and now the Middle East, so have experience of both.

TE, sorry but I can't agree with you because I have witnessed all the drunken friday night fights and do agree lack of sexual fulfilment may well play a part but I fear alcohol has more to do with it.

I live among millions of young men that 'don't get any' of either and can report that fighting is simply not a problem here. They do not have the alcohol to fuel their passions. Pathless made a good point actually, most of the young men here turn to smoking hashish and are far too laid back (due to the drugs) to bother fighting about anything.

Also, you are looking at the problem with a western "sex is everything" attitude. Young men in europe are brought up to play rough games, sneak a peek at the girlie mags and then status comes with number of conquests. This of course caused the problem of 'hump as many as you can, then try to marry a virgin'. Yeah right - are there any left? I don't mean that rudely but I have seen whole programs on the tv in UK discussing women that have remained virgins until marriage, as though this is something to be mocked or ashamed of or she is a circus freak.

Here young men grow up with different values, sex simply doesn't have the emphasis it has in the west. That is not to say they don't think about it, they do have blood in their veins but here the competition is not how many girls you can sleep with but whether you can get one to kiss you (which is doubtful but a hell of a challenge). It is interesting to talk to young men here and realise their priorities about sex are vastly different to ours in the west. I have asked some whether they would marry a girl they had slept with and they look at me like I have a screw loose, so I ask why they try to get girls to do this and they do have the decency to look ashamed.

I think a good indicator is reading Muslim forum boards. Arabic ones tend to have an ocasional young man asking scholars if they can 'do it themselves' and is it a sin to look at porn videos. Then look at a western Muslim forum, virtually all the questions from young men are sex related and quite explicitly so. To me this shows the difference in society that the young men live in. The west pushes sex all the time, adverts are designed to be openly sexual, even newspapers with topless women, etc. So a young man living in a sexually free country, with his religious restrictions on sexual behaviour, is of course going to find life rather difficult. Whereas a young man living in a society where sex is a non-issue, will find it easier to deal with.

Muslims are very strict here about the issue of NEVER discussing sexual relations outside of the relationship, so there is non of this "she goes like a rabbit" and "he's finished in 30 seconds". So young men are much more likely to be discussing football here than sex.
