I suppose that this is the best place to put this opinion piece from the NY Times site.
It was written by Studs Terkel and published yesterday. This man, who is in his mid-nineties, has seen it all and has written knowledgeably about all of it. His written words are still clearly managed and lucid in expressing his purpose and thoughts.
He expertly frames the growing current practice of Government snooping upon ordinary Americans, who are innocently communicating through electronic networks, in the context of the media generated fears of terrorism, and the hyped need for extreme security measures in the fallout from the 9/11 disasters.
He does this after citing similar invasive initiatives undertaken by the U.S. Government over the 20th century that he was witness to. This item was in the top ten list of most e-mailed NY Times articles this morning. Read it and learn...or weep.
