Re: The Gallery...

The skulls in nun habits seem like they'd be exceptionally marketable if screened onto a t-shirt or canvas tennis shoes (like converse). I could see them selling out of some store like Hot Topic like hotcakes.

ETA- you should sell the design to Lip Service. I can totally see a line coming out of that...

I think I am getting the shilouttes out me system... I am going to be doing pastels next.... Then maybe sculptures.. Then I wanna have a go at "Random" art... Such as where people like smash a toilet put a dog turd on top of it and then a cherry and say it is something random like (right this moment thinks of an explination) It is to express the clash of mankind and how it is wasteful and destructive but then there is an animal side to us which is fruitful lol.... There random art.... But, yeah, for now expect many pastel works to start flooding in.

Re: The Gallery...

LOL- sounds like a plan. I must confess, I sometimes wonder why I can't make a living at art when a recent installation was lawn furniture in large plastic air bubbles.

Something about the artificiality of our environment or somesuch. LOL

Re: The Gallery...

The last two designer jobs I applied for they didn't even want to see one of my 168 works lol..... (obviously done more than 168 creations but these are my big ones that I would use to "show off".) They just nip it in the bud with "not enough experience." So fudge it... If I am meant to be a designer then it will happen, if not, then I guess not... So I'll let it play out and see what comes my way :P

Re: The Gallery...

So pastels.... Very tricky lol.... Years since I have used them... So this I would say is my first attempt.... I aim to improve but here is my first....Tried to combine harsh, rough and soft looks in one....

Do you mean graphic designer jobs? I would forgo that and take some of your designs, like the skulls in nun habits, directly to particular clothing manufacturers and sell your art outright. If you're a graphic designer, you have the stress of people telling you what to create and giving you deadlines. If you just sell your own designs, you're the boss of you. Just my take on it. You might like the assignments you get in graphic design. I find that anytime I am told what/when/how big/etc. the joy is sucked right out of the creativity for me.

As for recent posts-- The work with the cathedral is really cool to me, too. It should be a t-shirt and a poster. You should have an Alex P. calendar every year. I really love the pastels one, too. A lot of movement going on there- the water reminds me of oil in water- a movement that is reminiscent of iridescence.

Re: The Gallery...

As crazy as it sounds... I didn't even think of it like that... I'd hate being told what to do lol... Designer to me, means; Here take this blank space and do what you will. So for website design and stuff... I'd not want to be -told- what to do lol I'd rather make a series of them and say choose what you will.

To a degree If you're going to tell me what to do, you do it... You obviously have an image already in your head, how hard is it to do it yourself lol.. As you are obviously the designer... You take away the creativity and indvidual skill of that designer by putting him on a leash lol.... :P

You like the pastel work? cool! I wasn't sure what to do but then I came up with that.. I think I am going to get a blank sheet of paper and just try different methods of skills with pastels...

Re: The Gallery...

Alex I think it's a 'mind-set' type thing...freelance vs. contractual...if all is looked at as a challenge anything can be done with passion. I know it's easier said than done. I too love the neanderthal skull w/ the skulls in the nun habits. You might consider contacting a band promoter and having it be their next concert t-shirt and cover. Get copy write protection though. They'll have to pay you for that too and/or you can set it up so that you can get proceeds off of any place they market it through after that. Just a long-winded thought )
