lol, your avatar has got me thinking a few times. As a veteran protester of course. A protest where everybody takes flowers and hurls them at the police ?.... I'm still an angry young man at heart though* and would still prefer to hurl excrement.

Was going to post "Human Punk" by The Ruts but no good original link to be found. So here is a taste of genuine political punk that got me fired up so long ago... this is THE RUTS not "the roots" as the tv show states...with "Babylons Burning"

Only saw The Clash the once at the same tiny club I saw The Ruts. I like them lots, but I respected The Ruts more.

Would making an inlaid chess board with both the squares and a background image be feasible? {Contemplating a birthday gift for my brother.}

Here's a picture of former Washington state Governor Gary Locke, his wife Mona Lee Locke, and their two of their three children, Emily and Dylan. {I don't think Madeline had been born yet when this picture was taken.}

I am thinking Japanese...which would help to explain some of the close business ties Japan has with Washington state...apples, farms, our NW rain forests, things like that.
And dude...your avatar is so, like, Jason...or Metallica.
P.S., I've got a pretty good idea where Greymare's boat avatar came from...

Feasible?
Depends on the design.
I can see a silhouette being the most feasible as the colors can be alternated without losing the board pattern.
A flute playing asian princess would be most difficult to incorporate into such a piece.
