Ah, Gunsmoke, Jack Benny, The Lives of Harry Lime and Suspense were on also (as well as one I personally wasn't that thrilled with, Frank Merriwell.) Where do you listen to the old radio shows?

Re: What music are you listening to?
THE BICKERSONS starring Don Ameche and Frances Langford. Unsurpassed in hilarity, and don't forget Fibber McGhee and Molly on the Johnsons' Wax Comedy Hour. I also really enjoyed Amos 'n Andy, even though it was racist in some respects.
I believe that most of the mystique of the olde radio programs was that they allowed us to imagine what the realities of the characters were without it being imposed upon us as it is in films and on television. This passive observation of the realities of others based upon someone else's subjective judgement is a lot less healthy for our minds and psyches than exercising our imaginations as old radio forced us to do.
Just another old-timer spouting off.

88.5 WAMU in Washington DC has been doing old radio shows on Sunday. I just googled em and get a load of this, you can listen online to the "Big Broadcast by Ed Walker" wherever you are! Gotta love technology! They got more real audio and podcasts so if anyones flavor is bluegrass, jazz or folk...you too can download away.

Re: What music are you listening to?
I listen to Old Time Radio on WPR (Wisconsin Public Radio) 90.7 WHAD (they also webcast at http://www.wpr.org).
Here's the entire schedule through July (for anybody interested): http://www.wpr.org/otr/otrdarchive.cfmv
Sorry for posting the entire address, but I'm not tech-savvy.

Re: What music are you listening to?
They previewed Bob Dylan's new CD that will be issued tomorrow on a local progressive music station here. It is REALLY, REALLY good and I would recommend it to anyone who reveres one of the twentieth century's greatest poet-musicians.
Hey, it's the twenty first century now! Excellence is timeless.
Dylan Rules !...along with Bob Marley and a few others.

Sanctuary from the Kingdom Hearts 2 soundtrack. I think that's what it's called.

Re: What music are you listening to?
I recently saw Jamie Cullum for the first time on a PBS airing of a concert. Pretty impressive. I don't know if I would like him as much without the great visuals--I'll have to give him a listen.
And today is Tony Bennett's 80th birthday, so maybe I'll play something by him. He has a brand new release, by the way--don't know the name of it. But I hope that when and if I am 80, I have his enthusiasm for not only music, but life.
Guess I am in kind of a classic "jazz" mood....
InPeace,
InLove
