Re: What's new with you?
We took the girls to a western horse show this afternoon. All the riders were teens as the group was a local youth riding group. Lots of very talented people and fun to watch. And very diffferent. There was a strong patriotic flavor, tons of flag waving both American and Colorado flags, western style riding and 'drills,' one dressage team, trick riders and a (strange) re-enactment of a soldiers vs. Native Americans fight (mostly soldiers killed, for some reason). Anyway, it was easy to get caught up in it all and a lot of fun. The girls loved it: almost 300 horses! Seeing that many beautiful animals in one arena was kind of amazing to us (Easterners, sheesh).

Re: What's new with you?
Hi Luna:
There's a new venue in Las Vegas especially built to accomodate large horse shows. The facility can accomodate about 1,200 horses, and there have already been several national and regional events held there. The show arena seats 4,000. It's all in/at a new hotel/casino that was called South Coast but is now called South Point.
It's brand new and a very nice place about 3-4 miles south of the congested and not so nice parts of the strip. It's mostly a locals place but nice and affordable. If you Google the two names you could probably get any information that you wanted about the shows and when they are happening. I don't have first hand knowledge about that. Next door there's a new hi-rise time share project (The Grandview) that has very nice accomodations if you don't feel that staying in a hotel/casino is right for you .

Re: What's new with you?
Whats new with me...
I have just had the worst birthday in history.... I am from a large family. Over 30 cousins... Eight pairs of uncles and aunties. Three siblings..... Could go on, anyway you would expect many cards? PERHAPS! Go out on a limb and say even presents?
I got:
2 cards and a sweater......
Anyone else ever experienced that?

PS--Will come a day when you want to forget about your birthday... .
Oh, not really. I'm 45 and I still enjoy them, especially the hand-made cards from my kids.

That sounds like one groovy arena and I would love to see 1,200 horses all at once. But, alas, Las Vegas is about the last place on earth I would ever wish to go.
We're hoping this year to explore more of Colorado with the girls, and get in some camping. In a couple of years we'll go to the Grand Canyon, which I have never yet seen but is on my list of "things I must do before I die..." Hey, that sounds like a good thread...

Hi Ciel,
Don't be silly! I'm looking to buy some property and rent it out to students.
