Where is This From?

Hi All

I have this annoying habit of visiting sites cut and pasting into Word and neglecting to make a note of what it actually is or from which site it comes from. I hope the clever people on this forum could help.

Quote:

Madhya-līlā

anantabrahmāṇḍa, tāranāhikagaṇana

konalīlākonabrahmāṇḍehayaprakaṭana

SYNONYMS

anantabrahmāṇḍa — innumerable universes; tāra — of which; nāhikagaṇana — there is no counting; konalīlā — some pastimes; konabrahmāṇḍein some universe; haya — there is; prakaṭana — manifestation.

TRANSLATION

"The consecutive pastimes of Kṛṣṇa are being manifested in one of the innumerable universes moment after moment. There is no possibility of counting the universes, but in any case some pastime of the Lord is being manifested at every moment in one universe or another.
Very radical I'm sure you'll agree.....Any ideas?

Piece to All

Glad you answered your own question, Redindica. Nevertheless, it's an interesting quote and gives us something to think about regarding the Vaishnava conception of Avatar, doesn't it .

OM Shanti,
A.

Hi Agnidevi

yes indeed, although I'm no expert. What strikes me the most is the mention of alternative universes, Hinduism seems to have come up with some incredable thoughts that are only now, in the light of modern science, becoming established.

If you care to put down your thoughts on this It would be most welcome. I find your thoughts illuminating!

Peace to all

Re: Where is This From?

I think this quote can be taken in different ways. On one hand is the Vaishnava interpretation that this means that Sri Krishna is quite literally acting out his Brindaban Lila exactly as described in the Bhagavata Puarana on one or other of innumerable worlds in this, or perhaps other universes.

Or there is a more simple and to me satisfactory line of thinking - that Krisna's Lila is in fact the entire cosmic manifestation, and because He is situated in every part of that manifestation, and maintaining it's exstence, in that sense his Lila is going on everywhere.
There's also a concept I've come across of Nara Lila - and this seems to cover experiences people have with Him in any time or space - so Mirabai's seeing Krishna is a Nara Lila for example. If Krishna was to manifest His presence to you or I, that would be His Nara Lila.

Just some thoughts. Not very orthodox I know.
