Islam is over 1000 years old. Plenty of time to re-address the balence. I've noticed that Pre-Islamic Arabia seems to be the stock answer to all un easy observations.

Not only Muslim countries but all Mediterranean countries have a tradition of restricting women.

Yes and there are laws installed to counter balence this, also the European convention on Human Rights...I think they are doing something (and have done) right now about it.

Its just too easy to see the flaws in others without addressing ones own.

I think that those traditional restrictions on women are disappearing on the European side of the Mediterranean because they aren't embedded in religious scriptures.
