Words and communication
Isn't it a wonder we can communicate at all?
I mean a number of folks that we encounter don't have English as their first language, so they struggle with nuance and our idioms.
And then there are those that do but between Aussies, Brits and Yanks we've all got the same issues above.
But beyond that we use words like race, cult and fruit different their definitions, and even their definitions have so many choices that we really cannot discuss a darn thing using one word without clarifying what we mean by using it.

Re: Words and communication
A little evil communicates wonders... just point the weapon at them, slap them around, ban them, give them a black eye to remember you by. Why ask when you have the power to rape? In the absence of words, the actions do communicate the values.

Re: Words and communication
Is this a bot, or a non sequitur to demonstrate the OP?
Either way wil, I put your old OP into babelfish and it still made no sense

This is why I worry about those who partition their mind as a result of certain kinds of meditation. Unity of consciousness within an individual's conscious mind is important.

Re: Words and communication
I think what we need is a Turing Test for bots. Interrogate them. See if they're human. Ask them, "are you a bot?" and if they gave an intelligent answer then they're not.
I have been getting somewhat suspicious of Nick_the_Pilot lately because his recent behaviour has been somewhat bot-like. I think he's on vacation and he has placed an electronically active dummy on his computer desk.
...... it reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Homer puts a head-dipping duck/toy on his desk and makes it repeatedly press the same keys over and over again. The nuclear power plant goes to overload ....... and ....... well Homer finds out in the nick-of-time.

Re: Words and communication
What if nobody on these forums is real and we're all bots created by Brian Turner?

In the real world, the duck would have been made management.

What I meant was Saint Nick posting news articles verbatim and not offering much comment on them.
BTW, if you were Saint Nick, you wouldn't have put my words into a boxed quote. It'd be put in bold, italics or a different colour.

Nick and me/Snoopy/Wil have been having a nice conversation on the Oryoki thread, so Nick is definitely not in "bot mode"...

The bot continues to do what it can continue to do.
